"Shiraka was a springboard for me”, recalls Jordanian judge and Shiraka alumna Sewar Al-Rashdan. On Wednesday CILC hosted a networking event in Amman as part of the MENA female judges programme. This G2G, funded by the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken and Netherlands Enterprise Agency brings together 25 esteemed judges from Yemen, Egypt and Jordan. Judges exchanged ideas with the Dutch judiciary and each other on subjects such as female leadership, change management and mediation. The networking event brought together 70 Shiraka judicial alumni from Jordan, Ambassadors and Embassy staff plus civil society organisations. We look forward to hearing about their professional growth in the coming months before the second half of the training in Cairo in spring 2025. Long may the Shiraka family grow! #femaleleadership #ruleoflaw #MENA #femalejudges

Empowering Females in the Judiciary in Bahrain and Kuwait ⚖ Last week CILC celebrated the closing ceremony of the Access to Justice: Female Judiciary Training in Bahrain and Kuwait, a female leadership programme funded by Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, powered by Netherlands Enterprise Agency and implemented by CILC. Over the past year, 18 incredible female judges and prosecutors from Bahrain and Kuwait have strengthened their knowledge, skills, and networks through workshops and training both in the Netherlands and online. They’ve developed action plans aimed at creating positive change in their respective justice systems— and their dedication is truly inspiring. This final ceremony included workshops on leadership and networking, as well as presentations of the participants' action plans. Attendees at their presentations included the Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Bahrain, various senior diplomatic officials and the Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council. The ceremony was featured in 3 Kuwaiti news agencies. Participants are equipped with renewed determination to drive forward gender equality and justice in Bahrain and Kuwait. Congratulations to these trailblazers for paving the way for women in the judiciary in Bahrain and Kuwait!
