Luckily, we can fight quantum with… quantum. #QuantumKeyDistribution allows communication that can never be cracked - not now, not in the future. All thanks to nature: any attempt to listen in along the way automatically disrupts the message due to natural (quantum physics) effects. Why we’re telling you all this? Because it’s our client Belnet, together with imec and Ghent University as part of the #BeQCI consortium, who has just established the very first open QkD link in our country – open to testing by different public and private organizations. Yesterday, this huge milestone was launched for the press, including a presentation on the key why’s and what’s of QkD, and of course a reveal of the actual device in the state-of-the-art iGent Tower lab. What better way to test our optimized #crisiscommunications simulation training for clients than with a dry-run in our internal Academy? A few months ago, trainers Karolien Hessels and Johan De Ost went over the ins and outs of crisis communications with a group of colleagues from Charly PR and sister agency Progress Communications. All in preparation for D-Day: last week, a smaller group of courageous volunteers took on the role of Crisis Comms Team, immersed in a fictional but very realistic crisis scenario. What they practiced during this simulation: ✔️ Advising management on strategy and creating messaging at the moment of the crisis outbreak ✔️ Continuously evaluating and adapting advice and messaging based on changing circumstances ✔️ Handling difficult media interviews as spokes ✔️ Challenging the management on operational decisions that impact reputation ✔️ Prioritizing and decision making under heavy time pressure. ✔️ Advising management on structural improvements to better handle future crises. Feedback from the trainees: ‘challenging’, ‘stressy’, ‘the best way to really dive into crisis comms’, but also… ‘lots of fun, felt like a teambuilding’. What the crisis was about?
