  • Here at #CUGH2025, we were grateful to attend the important workshop on Reducing Global Inequities in Medical Oxygen Access organised by Every Breath Counts Coalition. Our key takeaways: - ~374 million people globally need oxygen per year - However, 70% of these people do not receive the necessary oxygen (this figure jumps up to ~90% in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia) - Diagnosing the needs for oxygen and other underlying respiratory conditions is an important step to address this gap A special thanks to Leith Greenslade, Zoë Mullan and others from the Lancet Global Health for organising this important meeting.

    Building healthtech ventures with impact

Proud of this year’s impact report- and everyone who has contributed to this year’s edition. Special mention to our ventures Foveo Fertility Crainio ChARM Exolvo Biosciences who we have spotlighted explaining how they (aim to) overcome healthcare challenges with their products. This could not have been done without our incredible impact team: Jikke de Jong Sarah Lotzkes Ihor Bahrintsev Volodymyr Marynchyk Jennifer Ballon and many others. And lastly, thank you for the valuable contributions to put the patient and the healthcare workers front and center, our impact council members Fenna Heyning MD PhD, Katell Maguet and Rhea Sims, MSc ! Curious to hear your input and or comments on our report, and as always happy to learn and exchange how we can improve- as ultimately that is the aim: Make meaningful impact - together!

🌟 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐂𝐡𝐀𝐑𝐌 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡. 🌟 Driven by our dream to see our device deployed wherever it’s urgently needed, we are reminded of the staggering reality: pneumonia is the deadliest disease for children worldwide, claiming a young life every 30 seconds. With this in mind, @Ooho and I have reimagined how we present our mission. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐨 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧—𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲. The gentle lung shape reflects life's fragility and every child's resilience. The waves, a pulse of light and technology, symbolize our innovation and the heartbeat of our mission: empowering frontline health workers with life-saving tools. The hard noise gradient visually echoes the daily silent struggles these children endure. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥—𝐚 𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭. The soft pink reminds us that, beneath every skin, we all share the same lungs and hope for a healthier future. The deep blue, a universal symbol of medicine, resonates with the healthcare heroes we aim to support in their vital work. To our partners who share this vision: thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’re creating brighter tomorrows and stronger breaths for every child. Today, we’re discussing with Maternova, Inc. our market re-entry strategy for ChARM, our device designed to combat pneumonia in low-resource settings. With over 900,000 children under the age of five losing their lives each year, Pneumonia remains one of the leading causes of child mortality globally. To put this in perspective—that’s one child every 30 seconds. With ChARM, short for Children’s Automated Respiratory Monitor, we expect to offer a transformative solution that enables more accurate diagnosis and early intervention, even in the most challenging environments. Our discussions center on reaching healthcare providers, NGOs, and governments committed to child health. Together, we are working to make ChARM accessible where needed most, empowering frontline health workers and helping children grow up healthier. 💪👶 With the support of Maternova, Inc., Ooho, and our dedicated partners, we take steps toward re-launching ChARM. Stay tuned! #Pneumonia #Diagnosis #ChildHealth #PneumoniaDay #maternova #Ooho
