  • Happy World Sleep Day! Because nothing beats a good night’s sleep - except maybe a hotel room that actually helps you get one. Fun (or not-so-fun) fact: Only a quarter of business travelers sleep well regularly when traveling, and 2 in 10 rarely sleep well away from home. So, we did something about it. We teamed up with sleep expert Naomi Hilliard to crack the code on better sleep while traveling. The result? A series of personalized sleep guides for citizenM guests, tailored to their sleep chronotype - whether you’re an early bird, night owl, or somewhere in between. Want to find out your travel sleep type? Take a look here: https://lnkd.in/g-PhADz9

If you're curious how we've stayed ahead of the curve for all these years, you need to check out this podcast featuring our very own Michael Levie. He shares valuable insights into how we do things a little differently here at citizenM. Not to give too much away, but you'll learn how our disruptor mentality constantly pushes the boundaries of what true, genuine hospitality really means (and no, it’s not about putting chocolate on your pillows).

Getting different results requires a different way of operating. Today, Michael Levie shares how every element of citizenM hotels' operations is thoughtfully crafted to deliver the exceptional hospitality that established the company as an industry leader two decades ago and keeps it at the forefront today. Want an example? Steve Browne shared this question for Michael: "How much emphasis is placed on empowering their guest-facing employees to make commercial decisions, such as occasionally offering free coffee, croissants, or even beer? For context, every time I work from one of the London properties (by the way, the citizenM membership is the best-kept secret!), the genuine warmth from the staff stands out. It’s an authenticity which is less consistent in other hotel chains, where interactions often feel more scripted or artificial." Michael's response? "On our cash registers, you will find a button that says ‘random act of kindness.’ So whatever that random act of kindness is, we ring up, whether it is a beer or coffee or anything else that we need to do. When we say our ambassadors are accountable and need to have the freedom to give that service to the guest, there cannot be a restriction. So if you have an issue and I go like, wait a minute, I need to talk to my boss, that's not going to go over real well. They need to be responsible. So they have zero limit. There are no limits of what they can do. They're accountable. And in all my experience, it's never an issue. As a matter of fact, they give away not even a tenth of what happens in other hotels. It's because of the human connection and that comfort and that feeling of being home.” The takeaway? If you operate like everyone else, you’ll get results like everyone else. Different results start with making different choices in how you run your hotels. Want more on this? • We’re still in the early weeks of the new year, which makes it the perfect time to start thinking about the destinations you want to explore in 2025. Let’s be honest—travel plans are way more exciting than New Year’s resolutions. Unless, of course, your resolution is to travel more. In that case, we’re all for it. To kick things off, we thought we’d share our travel plans for 2025. First up, we’re thrilled about the opening of our Dublin hotel, which will be our first citizenM in Ireland. Following that, we’re opening our fifth location in London, at Olympia. London loves us, and we love London—what can we say? Now that we’ve casually mentioned our expanding portfolio, we’d like to nudge you to book a trip and stay at either of these new locations once they open. But instead of talking about resolutions, we thought we’d share something more practical: our Rules for Travel in 2025—a little guide from us to you. Rules for Travel in 2025: 1. Never wear shorts on an airplane (even if you're flying to one of our Miami locations). 2. Never put your suitcase on the hotel bed (our under-the-bed drawers are there for a reason). 3. It’s okay to return to the same destination again and again (why else would we have four, soon to be five, locations in London?). 4. Wi-Fi on a plane is overrated—it’s good to disconnect sometimes. 5. Fast Wi-Fi at the hotel is a must—and we’ve definitely got that covered. 6. If you need to sit on your suitcase to close it, maybe consider reading up on Scandinavian minimalism. 7. Headphones are the universal “don’t speak to me” signal, especially on planes. 8. A postcard says more than a selfie ever could. 9. Nothing beats the first night’s sleep after a long day of travel—especially in one of our beds. 10. Don’t forget to set your OOO (Out of Office) message. Do you agree? What else would you add to the list?

  • Talk about a dream collab! It all started with a TikTok comment (because where else?). Six months and countless Tubby Toast snacks later, Teletubbies made citizenM their home away from home. At first glance, you might wonder: what could we possibly have in common? Turns out, plenty. This collaboration was inspired by a shared passion for travel, creativity, and individuality. Like us, the Teletubbies embrace unapologetic self-expression and the joy of exploring the world with friends. These global icons have spread joy, nostalgia, and Tubby magic – while sleeping soundly in our XL king-sized beds (yes, they fit). Whether it’s networking in New York or dancing at Art Basel in Miami, they know how to have fun – something we could all do with a bit more of in 2025. Keep an eye on our socials for more Tubby-sized fun in the new year. You never know where they (or we!) might show up next...

Can we take a moment to brag? 📍 Austin: We kicked off 2024 with our very first citizenM in the city. Rising 17 stories above downtown, this 344-room gem places you right in the heart of Austin’s vibrant culture. 📍 Boston: Next, we made a bold second move with our second hotel in Boston — and it’s our largest yet! With 399 rooms, views of the iconic Newbury Street, and a rooftop bar set to open in 2025. 📍 Miami: To wrap up the year, we made waves in Miami South Beach with our third property in the city. Just steps from Lincoln Road, this 168-room hotel is buzzing with Miami’s energy and artistry. From Austin to Boston to Miami — it was an all-American year for us!

  • You heard it here first – hyper-personalisation is the future of travel! The global customisation market is expected to reach $620.71 million by 2032, according to top research firm Future Market Insights, Inc. So, what does that mean? It's simple: it's all about you, citizens! What you like, when you like it. For some, that means physical customisation – like the monogrammed leather tags you get at @HeckfieldPlace (we love your work!). For others, that's bespoke wellness treatments, like @TheBothy's one-on-one mind and body assessments. Fancy. For us at citizenM, that means not letting travel getting in the way of your normal sleep pattern. We've made it easy to get a good night's rest – wherever you are in the world – with our super-handy sleep schedules, built by resident sleep expert @NaomiHilliard. Angelina Villa-Clarke name-dropped them in this Forbes article (just like we're name-dropping her now – thanks, Angelina!). Read it and sleep, citizens.
