Over ons

Oceans, seas, lakes and rivers offer growing possibilities in the areas of trade, food, energy and recreation. To ensure global prosperity for next generations and keep the earth habitable with an ever-increasing population, it is essential to utilise and protect these possibilities as efficiently and responsibly as possible. Damen provides unprecedented maritime solutions for this, through design, shipbuilding, ship repair and related services. We offer versatile platforms that enable our customers to be successful and that raise the standard in terms of safety, reliability, efficiency and sustainability. We want to become the most sustainable shipbuilders in the world. In the previous century, we revolutionized shipbuilding. Thanks to standardisation, we were able to supply our customers with better ships, faster. More than 90 years and 6,500 ships later, the importance of standardisation is only increasing in the light of zero-emissions and digitalisation. We do not build our ships alone, but together with an extensive network from the international maritime cluster. We firmly believe in the power of sharing. It means that we also use our craftsmanship to build platforms on production facilities that are not ours. In this way, through knowledge transfer, we not only contribute to better, safer and more eco-friendly ships, but also to sustainable local development and prosperity. We are a family owned business and stand for fellowship, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship and stewardship. Our playing field is the world. Our horizon is the long term. We firmly believe in our team, but also in the strength of the individual. Each colleague is an entrepreneur, focused on ensuring truly satisfied clients and making our contribution to a better world. In every aspect of our business the next generation is our starting point.

A whole fleet in one vessel. The Multi Purpose Support Ship range offers the means to patrol and protect vast areas of sea and sky. The vessels are designed to meet the requirements of the modern defence and security operation – and this means versatility. As well as the ability to store, launch and maintain drones, the vessels can conduct a whole range of air, sea and subsea activities with extensive endurance capabilities. #Damen #Defence #Security #MPSS

Good things come in small packages. The latest – and smallest – addition to our Compact Tugs range has recently entered the water at our Changde, China yard. The tug excels in safety and efficiency, with features such as her obstacle free working decks, and a single, covered winch for operations fore and aft. Her patented Damen Twin Fin skegs ensure her exceptional manoeuvrability, while her 30 tonnes of bollard pull give her far more strength than you might expect from a vessel just 18 metres in length. #Damen #Maritime #Tugs

Last weekend, we celebrated 25 Years of Excellence at Damen Galati! From tugs to naval vessels, Damen Shipyards Galati has delivered over 450 vessels to 70 countries during its 25 years as part of the Damen Group. This milestone is a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication that define Damen. With investments in sustainability and cutting-edge facilities, we continue to innovate and shape the future of shipbuilding. The quality of the work Damen Shipyards Galati does, is internationally recognized, and that all comes down to our people. As Arnout Damen, CEO of the Damen Group, puts it, “In the end, it’s all about the people: about developing talent and about how we can engage and interest upcoming generations. We do that as One Team, One Damen.” To all our colleagues, partners, and the local community who have shared this journey with us – thank you for your passion and support. #Damen #Galati #anniversary

Robot revolution. Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque has purchased five Autonomous Mobile Blast & Paint Robots from Sercel Group’s subsidiary, AMBPR . The investment follows several years of collaboration and trials between our two companies and represents a major boost for sustainability, efficiency, and quality. These advanced robots perform precision painting work with considerably less paint, energy consumption and water waste contributing to our ongoing efforts to minimise environmental impact. In a significant step forward for safety, the robots can undertake autonomous hull restoration work, removing personnel from the hazardous blasting zone and freeing them up to concentrate on other tasks simultaneously. Powered by hybrid energy, these robots are designed for future adaptability, with the potential to upgrade to 100% electric, making them suitable for zero-emission environments. Second sustainable ship for Gerdes Green. We have recently signed a contract with Gerdes Green for a second Combi Freighter (CF) 3850. Our client shares our vision of a sustainable maritime future. We have worked together on the development of a battery-hybrid version of the vessel for reduced emissions. The Gerdes Green vessels have received a subsidy for green innovation from the German Government. They will feature a shore power connection, the ability to sail on B100 bio-diesel and wind assisted propulsion. At SMM, Damen Commercial Director Remko Bouma and Sales Manager Rutger V., together with Gerdes Green Managing Partner Nicole Gerdes, will deliver a presentation on sustainability in short sea shipping in Europe from the perspectives of both shipbuilder and vessel operator. Join us on September 3rd at 11:15 in the Open Stage Hall B2 UF. See you in Hamburg! #Damen #Shipbuilding #SMM #Sustainability

Dependable versatility. The Landing Utility Vessel (LUV) 2208 draws on generations of Multi Cat construction to provide a platform you can count on. With its reinforced hull and robust bow ramp, the LUV is equally at home ferrying freight or supporting aquaculture operations. And now, the vessel is facing the future with the possibility to sail with zero emissions. #Damen #Maritime #Shipbuilding

United they stand. Costică Dumitrasc’s passion for shipbuilding began when he launched his mechanical career at the Galati yard in 1981. He shared stories about his work with his son, Teodor and, 32 years later, he too came to work at the yard as a pipefitter. It’s a situation that, says Costică, has done a lot for their relationship. “Because my son and I work together, this unites us even more.” #Damen #FamilyMatters #Shipbuilding
