🇩🇰 Last week, we attended the S9+ meeting in Copenhagen, hosted by Danish Industry, Tænketanken EUROPA and our Danish colleagues at Danske Iværksættere - Danish Entrepreneurs, just before the D9+ ministerial meeting. We dove into lively discussions about Europe’s digital, competitive and resilient future, with topics ranging from #AI investment strategies and opportunities, to balancing #innovation with #regulation, and the transformative potential of #digital tools. The following day, Allied For Startups Policy Manager Maxime Ricard delivered a presentation breaking down the post-EU elections landscape, walking our community through the fresh faces in Parliament, the new College of Commissioners and, of course, discussing the nominated Commissioner for #startups, research, and innovation. Het kabinet heeft bekendgemaakt dat de versobering van de 30% regeling bijna volledig terug te draaien. Dutch Startup Association heeft altijd gepleit voor het behoud van deze belangrijke regel en zag niets in de versobering die tijdens het Belastingplan 2023 is ingevoerd. Door actief gesprekken te hebben gevoerd en persoonlijke verhalen van founders te delen is dSa positief gestemd over het bijna terugdraaien van de versobering. Voor nu wenst dSa dat de regeling blijft staan zodat startup & scaleup founders weten waar ze aan toe zijn in Nederland. “Nederland moet juist investeren in haar start en scaleups door een overheid te hebben die helder en voorspelbaar beleid voert. Laten we dan ook vanaf nu niet meer aan de regeling komen en deze laten bestaan zoals deze is” aldus voorzitter Lucien Burm. The Dutch government has announced that it will almost entirely reverse the cutback of the 30% ruling. DSA has always advocated for maintaining this important rule and opposed the reduction introduced with the 2023 Tax Plan. After actively engaging with political stakeholders and sharing founders stories, dSa is optimistic about the near reversal of the reduction. For now, dSa hopes that the ruling will remain in place so that startup and scale-up founders know where they stand in the Netherlands. "The Netherlands should invest in its startups and scale-ups by having a government that implements clear and predictable policies. Let's stop tampering with the ruling and keep it as it is," said chairman Lucien Burm. 🥁 The 'Quarterly Startup Report' is here! While the year started off strong in the first quarter, the second quarter saw a significant decline in investments in Dutch startups compared to the previous quarter. Although the number of investments remained roughly the same, it was primarily the absence of very large rounds of around 100 million euros and higher that made the difference. These rounds are exceptional and difficult to predict in the Netherlands.
