FSSC 24000 was created through extensive and open consultation with leading consumer goods brands and global retailers. 💡🌎 It is a social management system certification Scheme developed to assist organizations in the consumer goods industry and the related supply chain in meeting social sustainability and performance requirements. The Scheme incorporates PAS 24000: Specification for Social Management Systems, an internationally recognized and independent standard developed by BSI that includes social performance requirements. Social performance obligations incorporate safe & fair working conditions, business ethics requirements, and application of due diligence in the supply chain. For an organization to have an effective Social Management System (SMS), the SMS should be aligned with the strategic direction of the business. It should take into account the internal and external issues that are relevant to the purpose and strategic direction of the organization. 🌎🔝 Chapter 4 of the PAS 24000 Standard is about the 'Context of the Organization' and covers how an organization determines the scope of its SMS. An SMS should include all activities of the legal entity at the site, including auditing and certification, with no exclusions allowed. Based on the scope of the SMS, processes need to be defined and implemented to control and reach the intended outcomes. Before the scope of the SMS can be determined, an organization and its context, as well as the needs and expectations of interested parties, must be considered. The FSSC 24000 Guidance Document on 'Context of the Organization' details what must be considered to understand these. We are thrilled to share this recap from our colleague on the recent FSSC Insights Day in Brazil. The remarkable turnout of 170 participants, alongside a fantastic group of industry speakers, underscores the importance and growing demand for #foodsafety and #socialsustainability management systems within Brazil's consumer goods industry. We want to thank all participants, speakers, and Certification Bodies for their engagement, support, and valuable food for thought! We look forward to continuing to promote knowledge about #FSSC22000 and #FSSC24000 in Brazil and expanding our reach across Latin America.
Last week, I had the opportunity to travel to Brazil for the FSSC Insights Day Brazil 2024, which was hosted by our team, including Juliani, Colin, Francisco, and myself, in São Paulo. The event was very successful, with 170 participants, nine enthusiastic external speakers, and two team members presenting on FSSC 22000 Version 6, FSSC 24000, and the FSSC Development Program. We received a warm reception, and many participants appreciated FSSC's presence in Brazil. We also met with Certification Bodies to discuss the FSSC 22000 certification market in Brazil and other Latin American countries and explore future opportunities for FSSC 24000 and the FSSC Development Program. I want to thank the Certification Bodies for their hospitality and great discussions. My sincere thanks and compliments to Juliani, Colin, and Francisco for making this journey genuinely exceptional and to all the other FSSC team members for their valuable contributions in various ways.

We had the pleasure of hosting our first FSSC Information Day in Istanbul last week, and it was a truly rewarding experience! Over 80 participants—including directors, academics, certification program managers, industry professionals, and retailers—came together, along with a fantastic lineup of regional speakers who shared their valuable insights. A special thanks to FSSC's Necat KIRKIL, our Representative for Türkiye and the Middle East, whose efforts and local expertise were instrumental in organizing the event and fostering connections with regional industry professionals. His leadership helped create an engaging platform to discuss our food safety and social sustainability certification Programs in the region. The positive reception of this inaugural event in Türkiye highlights the growing need for meaningful dialogue on #FoodSafety and #SocialSustainability. We sincerely thank all attendees for their constructive discussions, which provided valuable insights, and we look forward to continuing the collaboration. #FSSC #FSSC22000 #FSSC24000 #certification #Türkiye

During the FSSC Insights webinar on Equipment Management, attendees asked us how FSSC 22000 Certified Organizations should deal with the purchase specification of equipment installed years ago. When dealing with equipment installed several years ago, it is essential to understand that the FSSC 22000 Additional Requirement on Equipment Management does not apply retrospectively. An organization only needs to assess its existing equipment against the requirement if the existing equipment undergoes significant change. However, it is essential to note that organizations must still address hazards and associated risks related to existing equipment and their design within the hazard analysis. According to ISO 22000:2018, specifically in clause 8.5, organizations must conduct a hazard analysis, which includes assessing hazards associated with equipment used within the production process. Additionally, organizations shall refer to the respective clause of the related sector-specific PRP (Pre-Requisite Program) standard for hygienic design.
