Heating is, therefore, one of the largest opportunities in the world to decarbonise; transforming Heating Grids unlocks the potential of low-carbon heat sources such as geothermal and waste heat. The discussion will center on how refineries can leverage technological advancements to build a more resilient and sustainable future. As European Oil & Gas undergoes a major transition, refining is evolving from a traditional hedge to a strategic asset. European refineries are now exploring solutions like Gradyent’s #DigitalTwin, which enhances energy efficiency to new levels.     We’re thrilled to share that Shell has partnered with Gradyent to pilot a Digital Twin of its steam grid at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park in Rotterdam – and already generated substantial results https://lnkd.in/dttdvSne Shell accomplished two objectives by creating a #DigitalTwin of its steam grid sections: 1. Identification of potential improvements to the steam grid’s efficiency ➡️ Historical data analysis showed that live setpoint control could reduce grid steam venting. This would reduce steam system energy usage, carbon emissions, and costs in grid operation. 2. Simulation of future grid developments related to electrification and changing steam demand ➡️ Shell tested how grid development affected its decarbonisation goals using Digital Twin-based simulations of the steam grid component. This revealed the best future grid structure with reduced steam demand from electrification and changing steam demand efforts.     We're thrilled to share an update on our collaboration with Kansen voor West. Through its Just Transition Fund, Gradyent has been able to start building Digital Twins of steam systems at two companies in the Rijnmond area.   Through Gradyent’s Digital Twin Platform, companies are now able to identify significant savings opportunities across various site operations. These potential improvements not only boost efficiency but also allow the simulation of future developments essential to the energy transition.   As Rijnmond continues its transformative energy journey, Digital Twins play a pivotal role in supporting the resilience of industrial sites.     Last month, our Gradyent team came together in Rotterdam to celebrate five years of innovation and growth. The day began with insightful talks from three guest speakers, Jasper Eijmers and Sander Fransen 🔥⚡️ from Gasunie and Ivo Pothof from Deltares, who shared their perspectives on the future of #districtheating in the Netherlands. In the afternoon, the excitement shifted to the sports hall for the Gradyent Olympics, which brought out plenty of laughter and team spirit. We are very grateful for our amazing colleagues and look forward to continuing this journey together!

    Autumn is off to a great start with our September new joiners 🎉 Shuwei Wang, our new Solutions Engineer, is currently completing his PhD research, focusing on the applications of thermochemical heat storage in the residential sector. In his free time, Shuwei enjoys spending time in the gym or dancing. Philip Backstad, our new Solutions Engineer, has a professional background in data analytics with SaaS based platforms focusing on standardisation and optimisation of the technical onboarding process. In his free time, Philip enjoys playing beach volleyball and video games. Matej Havelka, our new Digital Twin Engineer, graduated in June with a computer science masters degree from TUDelft, with AI specialisation. During his free time, Matej enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors and playing board games. Petter Nissinen, our new Product Marketing & Brand Manager, has worked in the middle of design, marketing and sustainability topics. In his spare time, Petter enjoys a variety of outdoor sports. Valerie van Iersel, our new HR Work Student, is doing her Master's in Strategic HRM at the VU in Amsterdam. In her free time she likes to play hockey and listens to every sports podcast.     We're excited to share that Gradyent has partnered with Iqony, a German district heating company dedicated to decarbonisation and CO2 neutrality 🌿 Iqony is deploying Gradyent's Digital Twin to optimise its heating network in Essen-Süd. The first phase in the implementation of the #DigitalTwin will focus on scenario analysis with the goal of lowering network temperatures.
