At Heerema Marine Contractors, we are committed to achieving Net-Zero emissions. But instead of simply setting ambitious targets, we are taking a creative approach to drive real change across our teams. We are using a cartoon to communicate our Net-Zero strategy, using visual metaphors that: 👷 resonate with everyone—from our crew at sea to our staff in the office, 💬 connect our decarbonization goals to a clear and engaging narrative, ♻️ highlight our journey towards Net-Zero, ⚓ show our fleet navigating towards a 2050 horizon with ambition and adaptability. This visual storytelling makes complex ideas more accessible and fosters emotional engagement, helping us build a "coalition of the willing" across our diverse workforce. By simplifying and clarifying our goals, we have improved understanding and buy-in at all levels. At HMC, we are all sailing together towards a sustainable future—because there's ‘no way back’ from our commitment to reducing carbon emissions. Eager to learn more? It's a wrap - our first ever in-house DP training has been completed last week. 🙌 From September 23 to September 26, four Mates of the Heerema Marine Contractors vessel crew received their DP (Dynamic Positioning) training in our very own Simulation Center. This in-house training method was developed by our Simulation team, using the DNV certified DP simulator, and was accredited earlier this year by the Nautical Institute. During the training, the participants learn the principles of DP and get a basic understanding of how to set up a DP system on board the Heerema vessels. They learn the practical operation of equipment and recognize the various alarms. Iana Verschuuren, #Assistant #Mate on our #SSCV #Thialf shares her experience: "The training was a very educational experience, and I gained a lot of new knowledge. A great advantage was that the training took place at the office in Leiden - it is always nice to be back in the office and see familiar faces. The positive work environment and the team’s enthusiasm made the learning process both enjoyable and highly motivating." 🚢👏 #makingtheimpossiblepossibleoffshore #simulationcenter #DPtraining

At Heerema Marine Contractors, we are proud to partner with Petrogas E&P in the decommissioning of the Helm, Helder, and Horizon oil fields, which were key to the Dutch offshore oil industry. Autumn has arrived in Northern Europe, but our #Thialf continues to operate smoothly. As these oil platforms reach the end of their operational life, we are committed to managing this complex decommissioning process with the utmost care and a strong focus on health, safety and the environment. ♻️ Read more about our Decommissioning capabilities on our website: https://lnkd.in/eKab2VMe #MakingTheImpossiblePossibleOffshore #Decommissioning #EnergyTransition
The Helm, Helder and Horizon oil fields, a cornerstone in the history of the Dutch offshore oil industry, are now being decommissioned by Petrogas E&P Netherlands together with Heerema Marine Contractors. As the platforms have reached the end of their life, Petrogas is undertaking the complex task of decommissioning the platform structures. This operation involves meticulous planning and execution to ensure the safety of all personnel involved, prevent environmental damages, re-establish natural habitats and fulfil our social contract. The decommissioning process includes the removal of both topside and jacket structures, plugging and abandonment of wells, restoration of the seabed and a safe disposal while maximizing recycling of materials. The decommissioning of the P/Q oil field symbolizes the end of an era, but also paves the way for new opportunities in renewable energy and sustainable practices in the North Sea. Working at sea is challenging and ever changing. At Heerema Marine Contractors, every project pushes us to adapt to new environments, innovative tools, and cutting-edge materials. So how do we ensure that our safety practices stay on point? The answer lies in our Control of Work (CoW) system! 🐄 👷♂️ CoW enhances our safety framework by fostering a culture of vigilance, responsibility, and care across all teams and vessels. As we continue to face increasingly complex challenges at sea, CoW is key to safeguarding our people, ensuring that safety is not just a policy—but a mindset. Check out the explainer video below to see how we stay proactive, responsible, and committed to safe operations using CoW. #MakingTheImpossiblePossibleOffshore #WorldMaritimeDay #SafetyFirst #ControlofWork #DaretoCare #SafetyatSea

Over the course of four months, our fantastic #Thialf and her excellent crew installed no less than 64 monopiles at EnBW's He Dreiht offshore wind farm. A project, Heerema Marine Contractors, had been planning and preparing onshore for almost two years. To commemorate this achievement and honor the dedication of everyone involved, we created a special video in collaboration with Coen de Jong and QV Creative that captures the essence of this endeavor. 📽️ 🙏 #makingtheimpossiblepossibleoffshore #monopileinstallation #liftingthefuture

In 2021, Seatrium contracted Heerema Marine Contractors to transport and install the 1.4 GW #HVDC #platform for the RWE Sofia Offshore Windfarm on the Dogger Bank. Fun fact, Seatrium (then Sembcorp Marine) was one of the shipbuilders behind #Sleipnir's construction. On August 26, 2024, after conquering rocky weather conditions on the North Sea, Sleipnir successfully installed the 11,000 MT topside onto the jacket, which was also installed by Sleipnir a week earlier. Once operational, this HVDC platform will be a great asset for the energy transition, as it is estimated to transfer 1.4 GW of renewable energy to shore, enough to power 1.2 million UK homes. 📽️ Watch our incredible Sleipnir install the topside in the video below. Thank you, Seatrium, RWE & GPO Heavylift, for your trust and the incredible teamwork 🤝 #makingtheimpossiblepossibleoffshore #liftingtheenergytransition #hvdcplatforminstallation

Navigating to Net-Zero is part of our sustainability strategy, something that can be achieved through innovation. Today, the Ship Based Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) trial officially came to an end for #Sleipnir. After testing the prototype unit offshore over the summer, it was finally offloaded yesterday at our homeport Calandkanaal, The Netherlands. While we still have to wait for the results, we are proud to be part of such an innovative consortium Everlong CCUS demonstrating carbon capture on LNG-fuelled ships. Discover what this trial means for Heerema Marine Contractors by watching the video made, in collaboration with VDL Groep, by the talented people of QV Creative. #makingtheimpossiblepossibleoffshore #carboncapturestorage #heavyliftcranevessel

Heerema Marine Contractors Installs all WTG Monopile Foundations at He Dreiht 🙌 Yesterday, our SSCV #Thialf installed the last (64th) WTG monopile foundation at the EnBW He Dreiht offshore wind farm. We are incredibly proud of our onshore project team and offshore crew for designing and working with new tools such as the T-NMS-10000 and the Monopile Upending Tool, optimizing cycle times and completing this project within the agreed timeframe despite weather delays. We appreciate the confidence EnBW placed in us to tackle this project, which required us to think outside the box, and design and manufacture new processes and tools from scratch. The He Dreiht project underlines Heerema's commitment to innovation and excellence in making the impossible possible offshore.
