🌱 The Future of Plant Breeding🌱 Plant breeding is a key discipline in sustainable food production. Emerging technologies, like genome editing, will likely expand breeders' toolkits to develop more resilient crop varieties. But where do we actually stand as an industry, and what can we expect in the coming years? We're excited to share that @HudsonRiverBiotechnology will be speaking at the upcoming event, where Swiss-Seed and the Bern University of Applied Sciences HAFL will address these critical questions. The event takes place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Zollikofen. Ich freue mich, HRB bei der Fachveranstaltung zu vertreten, die von Swiss-Seed und der Berner Fachhochschule HAFL organisiert wird. #PlantBreeding #GenomeEditing #FutureOfAgriculture #HRB

Hudson River Biotechnology CEO Ferdinand Los to speak at the Plant Genomics and Gene Editing Conference #PlantGenomicsGE in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 21 at 2:55PM in a talked titled "Transgene-free CRISPR editing and plant regeneration from single cells". We are building TiGER, a technology platform that enables transgene-free CRISPR editing and single-cell regeneration across a diverse range of plant crops. Our innovative, transgene-free approach provides significant benefits, particularly for polyploid and clonally propagated crops, and is highly scalable and automatable. On the commercial front, HRB offers adaptable business models and collaborative opportunities, and ensures our customers have access to a trusted source of knowledge and expertise. To date, we have implemented our technology across over 40 commercial varieties of 13 different crop species, achieving notable successes in strawberry, cabbage, sugarbeet and tomato. The presentation will delve into some of TiGER’s unique features, illustrated through several use cases. https://lnkd.in/e7fUyjsW

The New Zealand government’s decision to end a 30-year ban on gene editing technology has been welcomed by Plant & Food Research as a move that could help enhance varietal development. https://lnkd.in/ekQMXesz #CRISPR #GeneEditing

This morning Hon Judith Collins KC MP and I announced an end to New Zealand’s nearly 30-year ban on gene technology outside the lab in a move which will bring health, productivity and climate gains for Kiwis. NZ has lagged behind countries, like Australia, England, Canada and many European nations in allowing the use of this technology for the benefit of their people, and their economies. That’s not right, so we’re ending the ban.

Become the world's leading Food & Agri Startup Hub by 2030 🌍🏆 That's the ambition that was discussed in a recent workshop with various stakeholders such as startups, investors and corporates. The key question was what needs to happen to realize that ambition with government support, funding, industrial partners and startups. More governmental funding and sharing successes were mentioned as aspects that are required. Bram mentioned Meatless BV a company that we invested in and that was acquired in 2022. Bram: "I think that if you can profile and showcase such successes, this can be really inspirational for others to follow suit." We appreciate the initiative and everyone who is contributing to it. Thanks for organizing Foodvalley NL! Read the article about the event here: https://lnkd.in/eT_RaEjJ What are aspects you think are needed to boost the Netherlands to become the global Food & Agriculture startup hub?
