Embedding circularity and sustainability isn’t just good for the planet—it’s a competitive advantage! 🌱💼 This was the Green at Heart Bootcamp. 🌍 18 entrepreneurs 🇪🇺 6 European countries 📅 3 days 💚 1 mission, becoming Green at Heart! Last week in Vienna, 18 forward-thinking entrepreneurs from across Europe came together with one mission: making sustainability more than a vision. The focus went beyond reporting. We explored how to make sustainability truly workable, not just in their products, but in their daily operations. We believe that sustainability is intersectional and that the best solutions emerge through collaboration. Over the past months, more than 100 entrepreneurs have tested new tools that help them embed #ESG and #CSRD into their businesses. 🧗 Climbing gyms are all facing a common challenge. What to do with landing mats once they’ve reached their end of life? In our latest Innovation Project Spotlight we reveal how Rijkswaterstaat, De Klimmuur/Beest Boulders and Impact Hub Amsterdam went from tracing the materials' journey, to teaming up with recyclers (Matras Recycling Europe) and creative upcyclers (UNBEGUN) to explore ways of giving the foam and PVC fabric of these landing mats a valuable second life. This initiative reflects the shift toward seeing waste as a resource, exemplifying the circular economy model. And, with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation estimating a $4.5 trillion economic boost by 2030 from such transitions, the sports sector with its high turnover of gear is especially poised for sustainable innovation. This app-controlled system accelerates growth, enabling year-round harvesting of microgreens, herbs, and edible flowers. ✨ Stichting Kolenkitkoks – Empowering talented female home cooks in Amsterdam to become entrepreneurs, gain financial independence, and transition out of welfare support. Through coaching, training, and hands-on experience in catering, workshops, and product development, KolenkitKoks fosters economic self-sufficiency and cultural diversity. ✨ Kumasi Drinks – Turning unused cacao fruit juice into refreshing beverages, boosting farmers' income by up to 30% per kg of cocoa. Their drinks offer a unique taste while promoting sustainability and supporting local farming communities. ✨ Nimble Processing – Connecting chefs with local sustainable farmers by delivering pre-cut vegetable mixes straight to their kitchens. This service saves time, supports farmers, and ensures high-quality, eco-friendly ingredients for remarkable meals. ✨ OJOA – Transforming imperfect fruits and plants into natural, ready-to-shake elixirs that combat food waste while boosting nutrition. Their clean-label, low-sugar drinks offer a tasty, sustainable hydration option for a healthier lifestyle. ✨ Time-travelling Milkman – Using European seeds, water, and innovative processing to create ingredients that enhance the mouthfeel of dairy alternatives. Their approach redefines plant-based dairy by merging sustainability with an irresistible sensory experience. These inspiring entrepreneurs have spent the past four months refining their businesses, securing partnerships, and preparing to scale their impact. Their award-winning blends have earned top industry recognition. ✨ Daffee | B Corp – Dedicated to tackling food waste and deforestation, Daffee upcycles date seeds into a nutrient-rich, caffeine-free coffee alternative—demonstrating true environmental stewardship. ✨ Gabanna Foodworks – Crafts small-batch, multi-grain pasta from ancient grains, supporting regenerative farming. Based in Rotterdam, they promote biodiversity and circular food systems through innovation and collaboration. ✨ Grassa | Unlocking the full potential of Grass | Biomass – Enhances the nutritional value of grass through processing, creating sustainable feed and food ingredients. Their method supports farmers, reduces emissions, and promotes local food production. What a day! The Fair Future Challenge 2025 announced its five fantastic winners last week, and we at Impact Hub are proud to have contributed to this incredible journey! 🎉 Together with The DOEN Foundation, we created a platform for innovative entrepreneurs who prove that sustainable and social impact can go hand in hand with successful business. Out of 758 submissions, 20 finalists were selected to showcase their ideas to the public during the Product Fair in Amsterdam. The five winners—Cooloo, Goodoo, Jafix.com, Monkeys By The Sea, and The Lekker Company—demonstrate how smart, sustainable innovations can offer consumers better choices.
