Did you spot “Bubble Buzz” on Katoenhuis Rotterdam façade? Factorr.nl recently moved into Katoenhuis Rotterdam as one of the first tenants. Our kick-off project here, “Bubble Buzz”, is a façade installation that aims to raise awareness about the changes happening in the surrounding M4H area and the risk of gentrification. The increasingly popular area, built by makers and creatives, is at risk of losing the place that they initially created. First shown at Koelhuis Eindhoven during Dutch Design Week’23, the installation now comes to its sister venue, Katoenhuis. “Bubble Buzz” invites passers-by to reflect on their own roles in these processes, and how urban development and societal changes affect their communities. If you haven’t yet, come and see the “Bubble Buzz” yourself from the recently opened Getijdenpark or at Benjamin Franklin Street in Rotterdam, M4H. We are pleased to announce that Getijdenpark (Tidal Park), located right next to Katoenhuis, was officially opened to the public today, becoming part of the vibrant M4H area. The opening, which took place in the Katoenhuis, was organized by urban design and landscape architecture firm De Urbanisten and the Gemeente Rotterdam. Lisette Groen, the program director of M4H, and Chantal Zeegers, the alderwoman for climate, building and housing, gave their opening speeches to officially mark the inauguration of the park. Located in Keilehaven, Getijdenpark offers a new space for everyone to enjoy. With nine terraces of varying size and height, the park offers a dynamic landscape that changes with the tides. This development adds public space for recreational use and increases local biodiversity in M4H. Congratulations to De Urbanisten and the Municipality of Rotterdam for their excellent work on this project. We look forward to seeing you there! ⚓🌊🌿 #Getijdenpark #Keilehaven #M4H #Rotterdam #Katoenhuis #UrbanPlanning #Biodiversity

Spanning all the way through one of our massive first–floor spaces, Polynode VI by Lumus Instruments immersed visitors into an audiovisual story, asking how we can develop empathy for hypothetical digital life? Polynode VI explores the behavior of digital automata, or "virtual creatures," that occupy physical space through arrays of digital light sources. These agents, visualized as nodes within the light arrays, are accompanied by speaker arrays that allow them to express themselves through light and sound. The installation acts as a spatial instrument in which neither light nor sound acts as the origin of the behavior that is being created. Polynode VI was presented at Katoenhuis during the“Radiant Voids” exhibition by TECARt and Lumus Instruments. 🎥 Leon van Engelen #katoenhuis#katoenhuisrotterdam#M4H#keiledistrict#rotterdammakerdistrict#rotterdamartweek#artrotterdam#lumusinstruments#tecart#newmediaart#lightinstallation#immerisiveart#immersiveexperience

Actualization by Lumus Instruments is a kinetic piece that utilizes lasers and mirrors to craft defined and exact moving shapes. Through coordinated motion, vectors of light create geometries that continually morph and transform. Actualization was presented at Katoenhuis during the “Radiant Voids” exhibition by @tecart.rotterdam and Lumus Instruments. 📹: Leon van Engelen #katoenhuis #katoenhuisrotterdam #M4H #keiledistrict #rotterdammakerdistrict #rotterdamartweek #artrotterdam #lumusinstruments #tecart #newmediaart #lightinstallation #immerisiveart #immersiveexperience

Undetermined by Timo Lejeune is a digital work that challenges our ability to predict and intuit. Taking inspiration from chaos theory, this series delves into the emergence of complex forms from simple computational algorithms. These shapes and movements evoke a sense of familiarity, reminiscent of phenomena found in nature or recognized patterns.
