Everyone loves a good growth tactic! But don’t mistake these tactics for complete growth strategies. Here’s the difference—and why it matters: As I am building a curated database for such non-traditional growth tactics it amazed me to see affiliate marketing or running ads as a "growth tactic"?Unfortunately, even established names on the market still get confused A tactic is fundamentally an effort that can be implemented and benefit you in days to a maximum of a month time. In contrast, a dedicated strategy just starts picking up after a few weeks or months and continues to drive growth sometimes for years. You should see tactics being used for optimization or validation activities whereas strategies are the fundamental building blocks of your org. We also have channels that serve to distribute the company's message or products on top of which we create strategies or tactics - Marketing 101 Why it matters? Mistaking these Lego blocks can leave you with empty hands and an unstable foundation that will shrink your margins, poor choices, and most importantly make you an easy target for your competitors. To make it short, you just won't move the needle and have to close down eventually. Let's look at some examples of strategies and tactics 👇 A dedicated strategy is... ✅ Building an SEO engine with articles, artifacts, guides, guest posting articles, etc. ✅ Creating content to activate and educate the market further to build an audience ✅ Using affiliate marketing as the main in-direct awareness channel to drive the word about your SaaS Each one of these can become a playfield for later optimization A growth tactic on the other side is... ✅ Micro-targeting conferences via Facebook ads ✅ Integrating quizzes on your website to support the purchasing process of your plans ✅ Incorporating a survey within your cancellation flow to gather feedback from churning users. See the difference? If you want more of these growth tactics, you can send me a DM for early access. #growth #experimentation #saas

Disappointed with your growth strategy? Go back to the foundation Things that worked for company A, probably won't work as much for company B. Questions about your market: 1. How are my competitors capturing the market? 2. What are the gaps in their strategy? 3. What's their business model? PLG/ PLS / Sales-led? Questions about your traction channels 1. Is there a search volume for any keyword related to your company? 2. Will this channel secure us a touchpoint with any vital GTM team? 3. Why should you go with that channel? Questions about your experiments 1. Are you following the rules of your distribution channel? 2. Have you played around with the settings to prevent Google Ads from wrapping your pockets? (in case you run ads) 3. Did you do your best to guarantee the success of your results? (check for interconnections) In the end, don't always reflect on your efforts, because that is your only way to break the cycle. #growth #growthmarketing #saas

If you have an experimental approach to growth you could... ✅ Understand that failures are learnings ✅ Beat company silos ✅ Discover new growth strategies efficiently ✅ Prove investors you are moving the needle ✅ Not relying on one-offs to gain traction Instead, you might be facing this.. ❌ Repeating the same mistakes over and over ❌ Hardships with raising funds ❌ Shooting money and efforts blindly in the dark ❌ Losing to competitors as they move faster ❌ Having a vulnerable growth strategy Now go write down your first assumption then find a way to test it and document the results. What worked today, probably won't work for the next step of your journey #growthstrategy #growthmarketing #growthengine #saas

Relying on "one-offs" isn't a winning growth strategy. You can get featured here and there to gain a bit of traction, but can you repeat it every day, week, or month? Probably not Most SaaS founders would try stuff but never understand why this worked and how to systemize it. The problem however is that the channel you are using or the ads you run will lose their powers sooner or later. Would you then go for a new batch of keywords or a new traction channel? Speaking with over 300 SaaS growth experts and founders helped me to see that growth is approached in 2 ways: 1. Work with proven playbooks such as SEO, SEA, Outbound - You did these in the past so you just assume they will work (not ideal for any company) or - You saw it from the competitors (you don't know if this works and this won't help you to stand out simply because you copy from others) 2. You follow the trends blindly - You saw this on Tiktok or - You read an article from a company with +100M ARR and expect this to work for you. (not ideal for your state and in-house resources) So how can we build a repeatable growth engine? Introduce the proven growth process to save money from blind efforts and predictably increase your MRR. 👉 Gather data 👉 Create a hypothesis 👉 Draft experiments 👉 Execute & wait for your results 👉 Reflect on your efforts But most importantly 👉 Document everything so you can share the learnings later with your team or investors. 🙂 I AM IN A BUBBLE - weekly reflection For the past 5 years, I have taken my education extremely seriously Finishing almost all growth courses at Growth Tribe, CXL and Reforge while also reading all recommended books, podcasts, reports and articles. To put it nicely, I wanted to eat, breathe and sleep "growth", knowing when to implement every mental model and even build my custom frameworks. Someway somehow, I thought that this was the standard for everyone which made me believe the adoption of MarketHackr would be way easier, but I was wrong A separate post is coming next week. What now? Going back to the drawing board, trying to simplify my brain and set a new batch of hypotheses and experiments. A few more learnings from this week: 👉 Sometimes growth marketing leaders fail to introduce the growth process as they can't get the necessary buy-in 👉 My LinkedIn posts introducing growth as a whole resonate way better. 👉 I need to pivot my targeting and value prop once again (already done). Also automated a lot of my outbound. 👉 People are very visual, so I need to build an educational deck for demos. 👉 The best way to close deals is to let others do the talking for you. Any new learnings from your side? P.S. We will tweak our pricing soon, as we are closer and closer to V3. #growthmarketing #buildinginpublic #saas #growthengine

“I know how to do growth as CEO, just publish content, do outreach, or run ads" A critical mistake made by both SaaS founders and Marketers Everyone nowadays "does growth", but at what cost? Growth marketing is NOT just about cheap tactics. Growth marketing is NOT a one-size-fits-all approach Growth marketing is NOT about integrating the brand new tactics Growth marketing is NOT a magic bullet. Growth marketing is NOT about just posting something online You know what it actually IS? Let’s go back to the drawing board… Look at the full picture for your SaaS starting from how a person learns about your brand and finishing the painting at them being your brand champion. Do you see that there is a gap within that journey? Create a hypothesis and brainstorm multiple ways of solving it by testing different experiments The more learnings you have, the faster you are going to move and this indicates extreme competitiveness. #saas #experimentation #growthmarketing
