Have you considered how the diversity of clinical trial participants can impact the outcomes and approval of new drugs in the BioPharma industry? 🤔 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are crucial to get a complete picture of a drug’s safety and efficacy across different populations. Despite its importance, the clinical trial participant population often doesn't reflect individuals in the real world. Recognizing this issue, the FDA is producing guidance documents to ensure that clinical studies appropriately test the product in a representative sample of the intended use population (read more here: https://lnkd.in/epvUTzX3). 🌎 However, there are barriers that hinder participation of specific groups in clinical trials, making it challenging to have a representative sample of the intended use population. Some of these barriers involve geographic and socioeconomic factors, access to information and language barriers and having a restrictive study design. ✔️ By focusing on recruiting patients from the diverse ethnicities that reflect the drug’s intended use population, partnering with community hospitals, and enhancing diversity among trial participants and researchers, the BioPharma industry can ensure more comprehensive and reliable research outcomes, aligning with FDA guidelines and avoiding costly delays and compliance issues.   ➡️ At myTomorrows, we strive to support BioPharma to make clinical trials more accessible and inclusive. ☀️ We recently celebrated our most anticipated event of the year #myTomorrowland ☀️ It was a fantastic opportunity for all of us at myTomorrows to come together, share our successes, and grow stronger as a team.🚀 We kicked off the celebration with the official opening of our re-branded office in Amsterdam!👏 The event continued with interactive sessions and inspiring presentations from our Mighties Michel, Ferdinand, Marshall, Dennis, Daniele, Karlijn, Jytte, Roos and Jasmin. Consuela Esseboom from The School of Life Amsterdam ran a fantastic session on the importance of self-awareness: understanding ourselves helps us become better team members, contributing to a cohesive workplace. We were also honored to be joined by a guest who shared his inspiring patient story. His valuable insights helped us to get a deeper understanding of the challenges and difficulties faced by cancer patients. Our team is back from Cambridge after an exciting few days at #BNOS2024! They are still buzzing from the amazing conversations, presentations, and even shout outs that took place at the conference. Our team is reflecting on an energizing few days at the #ALSNexus conference! We engaged in thought provoking discussions with the ALS Community, exchanging insights on access to clinical trials and changing the future of #ALS. The team was impressed by the range of topics covered and particularly inspired by the remarkable work and research spearheaded by The ALS Association, alongside other organizations, striving to make ALS a more livable disease. In particular, the pivotal role of clinical trials in achieving this goal was especially emphasized. Mar Soto Ruiz de la Torre, PhD and Dennis Akkaya got the chance to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by getting drenched in cold water, and even made it on local television!
