Hout maken van gekweekte cellen, zonder een boom te laten groeien: De Nederlandse startup New Dawn Bio 🌳 wil in een productiefaciliteit uit houtcellen allerlei soorten hout creëren die normaal moeilijk verkrijgbaar zijn of nog niet bestaan. Zonder ontbossing en mensenrechtenschendingen.

🌱🌍 New Dawn Bio creates lab-grown wood, no trees needed! Imagine wood made from cultivated cells without cutting down trees. That's the vision behind New Dawn Bio 🌳, now based at Wageningen Campus. Founder Tom Clement and cell biologist Ruben van Spoordonk recently unveiled their first piece: a small but sturdy lab-grown “stamp”. This #innovative method combats deforestation and allows complete control over wood properties, making lighter wood by adjusting cell types or creating wood that’s rare or non-existent in nature. Supported by StartLife, New Dawn Bio is refining its business model to bring lab-grown wood products, like tabletops, to a global market!
