From Beyoncé to Billie Eilish, from Stromae to Nirvana - The Latest exhibition The World of Music Video, now on show at Forum Groningen, takes you on a journey through pop music from 1975 to the present day. Designed by NorthernLight, the exhibition celebrates 50 years of music videos, showcasing classics like Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, while introducing lesser-known masterpieces from around the globe. The bold and sustainable design for the exhibition uses scaffolding structures. The dark ambiance of the space, enhanced by colored lighting, resonates with the dynamic energy of this groundbreaking art form. NorthernLight designed the new Moody Family Children’s Museum at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, which will nurture imagination and empower children to be brave and daring. The inviting and larger-than-life design is rooted in scientific principles and will empower children to reimagine the future. Each space will foster creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking in children. The dynamic environment and diverse interactives will be a space of wonder where anything goes, and children can feel free to chart their own course. For this project, NorthernLight has partnered with main contractor Bruns and Kiss the Frog & Ata Tech B.V. for the multimedia. We are proud to see our designs prominently featured in US media, including CBS News, The Dallas Morning News, D Magazine, and many other media outlets. The new Children’s Museum will open by mid-2025. Read more on our website: https://lnkd.in/e264acxW

Drents Museum launches radical new collection 🎨🏛️ Drents Museum in the Netherlands has launched a radically different presentation of its permanent collection. The 170-year-old museum teamed up with exhibition design agency NorthernLight to create Labyrinthia, a new way of experiencing the highlights of its collection, which include the Yde Girl (an iron age bog body), paintings by Van Gogh and the world's oldest boat. Labyrinthia invites visitors to go on a journey through 15 rooms, each focused on just one artefact, with a range of activities aimed at bringing the stories to life. "In Labyrinthia you can look with your hands, smell the paint of the Northern Figuratives and touch shards from the time of the dolmen builders," according to Drents Museum's website. "Learn the techniques of the mammoth hunters, pose with the jewellery of the Princess of Zweeloo and dance at a farmer's wedding." Each room has been designed to highlight the artefacts - dark, oppressive colours create an eerie atmosphere in the room dedicated to the Yde girl, while a bright blue space adds a modern twist to the gallery dedicated to the realist art of Matthijs Röling. “We wanted to help visitors really understand these masterpieces through stories,” said Northern Light director Peter Slavenburg. “Labyrinthia is kind of like a book of fairytales, except that all of the fairytales are true.” Read the full story by following this link http://lei.sr/s9g8a Be the first to know what's happening in the industry by signing up to our digital releases here http://lei.sr/6w8k7 Steven Schaeken Martin Schoonheim Paul Klarenbeek Harry Tupan

Labyrinthia, the completely new collection presentation at the Drents Museum, offers a magical journey through the iconic stories of Drenthe. NorthernLight was responsible for the spatial, visual and experience design of fifteen enchanting rooms, the welcome area, as well as the magical hallways. The design of Labyrinthia offers a unique experience in every room. Central themes such as “What makes us human?”, “How far would you go for your ideals?”, and “What would you do if you were threatened?” connect the present with the past, always keeping the visitor at the heart of the experience. Each room’s atmosphere is carefully designed, intertwining historical contexts with modern elements. Read more on our website: https://lnkd.in/ejFRayFP Thanks to the team from the Drents Museum, Bruns, YIPP, WIRTZ Film & Experience Agency, Ata Tech B.V. and many others for bringing this magical end result to life. For the first time in Germany, two adventure journeys through the body and time lead into a fascinating world of science and cultural history on the subject of food and drink in the new traveling exhibition ‘Essen und Trinken’ at the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen in Mannheim, Germany. NorthernLight designed the exhibition where visitors experience an adventurous journey through the inside of the human body. With a variety of theme islands and hands-on areas the exhibition spectacularly illustrates the path of food and how it strengthens us as a source of energy. Interactive stations, archaeological finds, anatomical models and cultural-historical testimonies will offer exciting insights into the history of nutrition and the paths of food in our body. ‘Essen und Trinken’ can be visited until July 27, 2025. Step into the world of forgotten peoples in history with the major archaeological exhibition ‘Dacia – Empire of gold and silver’ at the Drents Museum, where remarkable treasures unveil the story of an ancient empire. Designed by NorthernLight, this exhibition illuminates the rich cultural history of the Dacians, a civilization that thrived before the Roman conquest. The mystical and almost otherworldly qualities of Dacian art are translated into a contemporary, theatrical, stage-like exhibition design. In this way, the exhibition explores the Dacians’ unique position and brings the story of this ‘forgotten people’ to life in the present day. ‘Dacia – Empire of gold and silver’ can be visited at the Drents Museum until 26 January 2025.
