🌍 SAS Hackathon 2024: Innovating for a Sustainable Future! 🌱 We’re excited to announce that our team at Notilyze - consisting of Colin Nugteren, Joep Bom and Maud van der Zande - is working on a fascinating and environmentally impactful project for this year's SAS Hackathon! 🔍 The Challenge: At a cutting-edge whey production facility, large volumes of water are generated as a byproduct of creating lactose and protein powders. While some of this water is reused in cleaning processes, heating it from 15°C to 50°C with steam requires a complex system that consumes significant energy. Our goal? To develop a smart solution using data analytics to reduce the amount of steam required by using as much residual heat from production as possible, cutting down operational costs and lowering environmental impact. 🌡️💡 🚀 Our Approach: Notilyze is teaming up with Henk Roelevink from HAI to tackle this challenge, building on our previous successes where we’ve won two global titles in the SAS Hackathon. Together, we’ll create a prototype solution that uses advanced data analytics and algorithms to optimize the heating process. Once completed, this solution could be integrated into HAI’s interactive Log-sheets to bring real-time improvements to the factory floor. 🔧📊 🌟 Why It Matters: This project has the potential to not only drive significant energy savings but also reduce the carbon footprint of a large-scale operation. ✅ It's a wrap! Our case-study presentations at the SAS Bootcamp were a succes. 🌞 The summers are always the perfect time to reflect on the impactful projects we've worked on over the past year. Last week, our data scientists Paul Koot, Amalia M., and Joep Bom got to share some of these experiences at the SAS Bootcamp in Tervuren with a group of enthusiastic master students, aspiring statisticians, and business analysts. At Notilyze, we're passionate about data, and it was a pleasure to dive deep into two critical topics: Data Quality to improve Forecasting and leveraging LLMs to interact with your private enterprise documents. Engaging in discussions about our use cases, models, and dashboards with such an inquisitive audience was truly inspiring.
