We're driving a new chapter of innovation in maternal and infant health, in partnership with March of Dimes. Mobile clinics are supporting over 1,000 patient visits annually in underserved parts of the US, by delivering advanced ultrasound technology to the doorstep of moms-to-be.   Find out more about how we’re delivering better care to more people through partnerships like this one: https://lnkd.in/eEEYFHrS   #MaternalHealth #HealthforAll #DecadeofImpact

This week, we kicked off a major milestone: 10 years of Philips Foundation advancing healthcare access for underserved communities around the world. Hosted by the The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), we brought together impact investors, partners and the social entrepreneurs that Philips Foundation supports – through its Impact Investments BV, to discuss and reflect on individual achievements, joint challenges and new ideas that can accelerate innovation and expand healthcare access for those who need it most. Margot Cooijmans, our director, emphasized: “This game is about making impact financially sustainable, not the other way around. The art is in the orchestration of this balance, not in staring at short term financial returns. Changing the world needs innovation, and hence, courage, changing the game, and some risk. The challenge is immense, but so is the opportunity. And the need.” During the closing event at the Rijksmuseum we reflected on the past decade and the journey ahead, together with valued partners and Philips representatives, all dedicated to making a lasting difference. As Marnix van Ginneken, Chair of the Board of the Philips Foundation, put it: “Philips Foundation is actively breaking down – and will continue to break down – barriers in local health systems. We can be proud of that.” This week has left us energized and motivated. We are grateful for the appreciation of our efforts and committed to driving even more impact, together with our community of entrepreneurs, investors and partners. #HealthForAll #DecadeOfImpact #socialentrepreneurs

25+ jr expert in strategie, ESG, CSR, partnerschappen, mgt consulting, programma- / projectmanagement, business improvement, people management, impact investment. Ondernemer, inspirator, innovator.

Recently, I have visited India’s Bangaluru, Pune, Kolkata’s remote areas, Delhi as well as some of the huge slums in Mumbai.   Arriving in each of these cities, a whirlwind of life met me – vibrant colors, sounds in the bustling streets, and the contrast between modern structures and sprawling areas of informal settings.    Compared to many African countries, India has fewer staff shortages, with many young doctors eager to work in underserved sectors. However, like elsewhere, healthcare budgets mainly flow into public hospitals (tertiary care), while greater impact can be made by improving primary healthcare at the patient’s first point of contact.   I have been discussing how Philips Foundation, with partners in India, can open up high-quality healthcare for millions of people. Parties within the public healthcare space, as well as valued social entrepreneurs like iKure, Briota Technologies, Last Mile Care, and Uplift Mutuals, which have created smart services, work closely with the patient’s natural habitat and in primary care settings, preventing severe conditions, instead of focusing on patients that are able to come to a hospital.    The healthcare landscape in India is undergoing a rapid transformation. The government’s ambitious Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission aims to digitize the entire healthcare ecosystem, from patient records to service delivery.   This, along with a patient’s unique digital identity, can lead to operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and better preventive healthcare. This enables access to unified benefits from public health programs and insurance schemes.     Philips Foundation’s approach to early detection of cardiovascular diseases in India, is also reflected in our established collaboration with the Center of Chronic Disease Control and iMEDRIX INC. (portable ECG devices and technical capabilities to digitize patient data management).   🧑🏽⚕️ With these partners, we are proposing a new and innovative healthcare model to establish a blueprint to address cardiovascular disease management at the primary care level in India.     🩺 Building on the learnings of our work in Kenya, our collaboration with the NCD Alliance India and the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) introduces smart technologies in resource-limited settings.     In this controlled environment during the 2-year project, Philips will provide ultrasound technology, and Philips Cardiologs will provide a validated AI-powered diagnostic tool, increasing the efficiency and early diagnosis, and enhancing timely access to life-saving cardiac care.     This way, expecting to provide better doctor-patient connectivity and promote better management of cardiovascular diseases, preventing deaths due to delayed diagnosis and treatment.    I am so happy we are able to do something, in meaningful collaboration. 😊

"The heart is what feeds the brain, the kidneys, the liver—it's the most precious thing." ❤️🩹 Hear and learn from Jackie, who joined Philips Foundation ’s program in Kenya a year ago. Jackie is one of the 100 clinical officers in Siaya County working to address the rise of heart-related diseases in the country. There’s a common misconception that non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as heart disease and cancer, are only issues in high-income countries. This simply isn't true. In reality, the increase in NCDs is alarmingly high in low- and middle-income countries. Training community health workers to detect these diseases is crucial in these regions. Technology can play a key role in making this possible 👇🏽🎞️ #WorldHeartDay #NCDs

I am inspired by the important work at the Philips Foundation to fight rheumatic heart disease (RHD), a serious heart condition that affects many young people worldwide. In partnership with Heart Healers International and the World Heart Federation, they've launched life-changing programs in Uganda and the Philippines. Using handheld ultrasound devices, they’ve screened over 100,000 children. Building on the success of a program in Uganda, which demonstrated that early penicillin treatment can reduce RHD progression, they're now focused on developing scalable care models and training hundreds of healthcare professionals to ensure sustainable impact. It's inspiring to see these initiatives making a tangible difference in vulnerable communities. 📽👇🏽 Watch the video below to hear from Dr. Craig Sable, who has been using AI to improve the accuracy and speed of diagnosing RHD, leading to better patient outcomes and more effective use of healthcare resources.

Program Spotlight: RAD-AID Ultrasound! Thanks to support from The Philips Foundation, RAD-AID Volunteer, Daniel Rae, traveled to Tanzania to work alongside hospital staff to improve ultrasound capacities in the region. We thank our wonderful partners at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (KCMC) for a longstanding collaboration. We look forward to continuing to grow our partnership! “The trip to Tanzania exceeded all expectations. The team at KCMC made me feel so welcome from start to finish! I was impressed with how engaged all the radiology residents were for my early 7am lectures. Also, having Mt. Kilimanjaro as a backdrop to the hospital made it a wonderful place to work. Asante Sana!” - Dan Rae, RAD-AID Volunteer #RADAID #GlobalHealth #Tanzania
