Over ons

To celebrate Amsterdam 750, we created Dijkreis, an interactive audio adventure that lets players explore the centuries-old Waterlandse Zeedijk — one of the city's most historic but overlooked landmarks. Discover the booming 17th-century whaling industry, the impact of the Titanic disaster on local shipbuilding, and the astonishing tale of rhinoceros Clara — all at the exact locations where history unfolded. Players unlock stories only when they physically reach the corresponding GPS location. This innovative use of geolocation transforms the dike into a living museum, making history tangible and interactive. Dijkreis is a fully in-house designed and developed web app that runs directly in smartphone browsers — no downloads required. This ensures a seamless, accessible, and engaging experience for all ages, especially children. Traffic and industry are flooding the urban air with pollutants. But what if we could turn dirty air into a valuable resource? Around the world, pioneers are developing breakthrough technologies to extract water, carbon, and minerals straight from the atmosphere. The result? Not just cleaner cities, but entirely new ways to source materials for the future. #air #urbanism #urbanplanning #co2 #protein #technology #smog #newsletter

Last week, we discussed the rise of micro-spaces and how a new generation of entrepreneurs is seizing opportunities in the leftover nooks and crannies of the urban fabric. Speaking of underutilised spaces: this incredible Japanese-inspired coffee bar in Quezon City, Philippines, needs nothing more than a hole in the wall to become a global sensation. For this and more, check out our latest post on Substack (and make sure to subscribe!) 👉 https://pu.city/3E88t0Z

🚶♂️ 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🚶♀️ In Amsterdam's Amstel III, we've developed a flexible and modular wayfinding system that reflects the dynamic energy of a neighbourhood in transition. With 12 vibrant signposts, we guide residents and visitors to new restaurants, shops, cultural hotspots, and hidden gems. 🌆✨ This adaptable system grows with the area, pointing the way to upcoming parks and evolving spaces. To complement the signs, we’ve also created a detailed map featuring 71 local highlights — a perfect introduction for new residents as they settle into their ever-changing community. The project, in collaboration with Studio Bureau and Sparks Impact, transforms streets into an invitation to explore and connect with Amstel III, today and tomorrow. In the future, we hope to launch the wayfinding system in other urban areas as well.
