RAPID GROWTH: HALF OF BIO-INCUBATOR V LEASED WITHIN 6 MONTHS The fifth Bio-incubator at the Arenberg Science Park in Leuven was completed just six months ago, and already more than half of the 3,300 m² of sustainable office and lab space is leased. Early tenants like AstriVax and Trellis are doing groundbreaking work in the life sciences, helping to quickly transform the building into a vibrant hub of innovation. Sustainability is at the heart of this new incubator's design. Bio-incubator V operates fossil-free, with heating, cooling, and ventilation systems that produce no CO2 emissions. Constructed using low-carbon materials, it sets an example for future projects at the science park and contributes to Leuven's goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2030. At Proof of the sum, our core mission is to catalyze knowledge sharing. Construction at Plus Ultra III is moving ahead! The CLT floor panels are now being mounted on the third floor of the first wooden building for laboratories in the Netherlands. Thanks to the expert collaboration of CLT-S and Wijnen Bouwgroep , we’re bringing to life this CO2-negative building, designed with a sustainable timber framework and aiming for BREEAM-NL Excellent certification. Developed by Kadans Science Partner, Plus Ultra III will be a future-proof and highly sustainable, multi-tenant building, providing lab spaces, offices, and pilot plants for innovative companies on the Wageningen University & Research Campus. Its multifunctional atrium will foster meetings, collaborations, and knowledge sharing between companies and education, creating a vibrant, collaborative environment for the tenants. At Proof of the Sum, everything we do —whether it's creating concepts, submitting competitions, conducting research, attending construction meetings, or meeting deadlines— happens in teams. That’s why it’s important for us to step away from the daily grind and take time to connect with each other. Every year, we select a destination that offers not just architectural inspiration, but also an enjoyable journey and vibrant nightlife to share. In recent years, we’ve added a key criterion: the destination must be reachable by car or train. This year, we traveled to Brussels, Leuven, and Antwerp. Along with visiting three of our own projects, we explored the rich architectural heritage of Brussels, from its modern landmarks to its historic gems. We also enjoyed great conversations and shared delicious meals, making the experience all the more special. Over the course of 32 kilometers walked, 57 flights of stairs climbed, and 28 electric scooter rides, the trip was truly memorable. Marie Curie building at Pivot Park Oss officially opened! Today marks the official opening of the multitenant researchbuilding 'Marie Curie' at Pivot Park in Oss. Prince Constantijn Van Oranje-Nassau, Martijn van Gruijthuijsen (Provincie Noord-Brabant), Frank den Brok (Gemeente Oss) and Brigitte Drees (Pivot Park) warmly welcomed the six tenants of the entirly leased building. Pivot Park in Oss is a campus for open innovation in the field of drug discovery and development serving both start-ups and existing companies. Open innovation seems to be the key word for the success of the Pivot Park. Access to the unique, high-quality R&D facilities and knowledge exchange with the community of other companies from all phases of ‘drug development’ make the campus a pharmaceutical focal point in The Netherlands. Pioneering Sustainable Infrastructure: A Milestone in Antwerp! We are thrilled to announce the completion of our latest project in collaboration with Milence: the largest public charging point for heavy electric trucks in Europe, located at the Port of Antwerp! In a world where the transition to sustainable transport is crucial, we are proud to contribute to this monumental shift with a project that not only supports electric freight but also champions sustainability in construction. Key Highlights: * Sustainable Design: Our design incorporates bio-based materials, with a special focus on the laminated wooden structures that form the arches and roofs. These structures not only provide shelter and safety but also embody the soft, natural character that is central to the Milence identity. * Modularity & Scalability: The site’s modular design, using prefabricated elements, ensures ease of assembly and scalability. Whether it's a new greenfield site or the electrification of an existing truck park, the concept is adaptable and future-proof. * Placemaking with Purpose: Beyond charging technology, our design emphasizes the well-being of drivers. Safe turning circles, ergonomic parking bays, and amenities for rest and relaxation ensure that drivers can recharge both their vehicles and themselves. * Looking Forward: This is just the beginning. We are already working on the next steps, including landscape integration and the implementation of cutting-edge charging technologies, ensuring that each location we design continues to push the boundaries of sustainable infrastructure. We’re excited to share that the renovation of the Heemskerk Town Hall is nearly complete! While the ground floor is still in its final stages, the employees of the municipality have been thriving in their new work environment for over four months. A key focus of the redesign was to foster collaboration, which is why the 2nd floor now includes dedicated spaces for our social partners. Previously, the municipal employees occupied two floors, but the workspace has now been streamlined to a single, efficient area. Sustainability has been at the heart of this project. We’ve prioritized reusing materials wherever possible: * Glass walls from the 1st floor have been reinstalled on the 2nd floor. * The entire suspended ceiling was reused on both levels. * The wooden ceiling and bamboo flooring remain intact on the ground floor. * Almost all meeting furniture was reused. * Desks and office chairs were kept in place. * Plants have been reinstalled throughout the building. * Furniture that couldn’t be reused on the first floor was repurposed by new tenants or the library on the ground floor. * Some items even found a new life within the Department of Defense For areas where reuse wasn’t feasible, we focused on sustainable alternatives. The new office floor is 100% recyclable, and any newly acquired desks were purchased second-hand. We’re also proud to report that energy consumption is set to decrease significantly thanks to new LED lighting, solar panels and advanced control systems. Kickoff construction Plus Ultra III Wageningen in style! We are proud to announce that the official kickoff of the Plus Ultra III construction took place last week. Kadans Science Partner, Wageningen University & Research, and FlavourTech Pty Ltd (the first tenant of Plus Ultra III) marked this milestone by driving the first pins into a CLT mock-up. Plus Ultra III is truly groundbreaking as the first wooden lab building in the Netherlands, boasting innovative and sustainable design. The facade tiles are made from 100% recycled PVC, developed together with Pretty Plastic, setting a new benchmark for sustainable construction. We are honored to be at the forefront of this pioneering project, pushing the limits of sustainable architecture. We're excited to introduce the 'Basic Third' - a series of 100% recycled PVC facade tiles, meticulously crafted in collaboration with Pretty Plastic, tailored specifically for the facade of Plus Ultra III. Together with Pretty Plastic, we're pushing the boundaries of sustainability by embarking on a pioneering project - the Netherlands' inaugural wooden lab building. COMPETITION ENTRY: IGNITE While our design for Ignite didn't secure the top spot, we're excited to show our innovative approach to nurturing collaboration and sustainability. Ignite, our wooden multi-tenant building nestled at the heart of the campus, was designed to trigger serendipitous encounters and knowledge exchange.   Our design philosophy revolves around accommodating various phases of a company's lifecycle, catering to young startups and established enterprises alike, all within a single, adaptable framework. From the vibrant ground floor to the more tranquil heights of the atrium, the building's layout is meticulously curated to foster interaction and collaboration. The shared facilities are strategically positioned to facilitate knowledge sharing. Ignite cultivates a thriving ecosystem.   Proof boldly pushes boundaries by crafting the 12,000 sqm space with a wooden construction. This multi-tenant building seamlessly integrates labs, offices, and numerous shared functions. Beyond its low carbon footprint achieved through the use of CLT, Ignite prioritizes sustainability in numerous aspects: flexibility, a green-blue roof, a tiered water system, energy generation, nature inclusivity, thermal regulation, and biophilic design.
