It was a blast attending this year's World Summit AI (WSAI) in the City of Amsterdam. It was sponsored by one of our partners, code4thought. 🌍🤖 Every year, WSAI gathers the global AI ecosystem of Enterprise, Big Tech, Startups, Investors, Science, and Academia to set the global AI agenda. It aims to cover ground-breaking stories of AI in Action, Deep-dive Tech Talks, Moonshots, Responsible AI, the Metaverse, and more. For example, our very own Rob van der Veer gave a workshop on AI's future and its long-term effects on future generations. On top of that, Rob and Bessie Schenk launched their AI children's book, Luna and the Magic AI Paintbrush followed by a book signing session.📚✍️ All in all, it was an incredible experience to be part of this event, and we are already looking forward to next year's edition! 🚀🌟 #WorldSummitAI #Amsterdam #ArtificialIntelligence #AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) is often regarded as the next major frontier in technology, but understanding its fundamental workings can still be a challenge, especially for non-technical business leaders looking to leverage AI in their organizations. 👨💼🌐👩💼 So, what exactly is AI? ⬇️ The definition of AI is quite broad but at its core, AI refers to systems that analyze data inputs to generate outputs—whether that’s a recommendation, a prediction, a decision, or content. Unlike traditional software, which follows pre-defined rules, AI models learn to perform tasks autonomously. In our recent article, we offer a comprehensive introduction explaining foundational and technical concepts like machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI. Link to full article in the comments. In our upcoming AI readiness guide (coming October 15th), we highlight- among many other things, the importance of understanding AI to make better-informed decisions. Stay tuned! 🚀 #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #AIReadiness #AIforbusiness

On September 23-24, our partner, Siemens held the Polarion4U event at the Siemens AG office in Hamburg, Germany. 🇩🇪 Polarion4U is a highly anticipated event that brings together a diverse community of users, experts, and enthusiasts from around the world. It serves as a platform to explore the latest advancements in Polarion (Siemens PLM Software) technology, gain valuable insights from industry leaders, and discover innovative use cases and best practices. 💻👥📈 Tibor Lapikas, our Director Partner presented a workshop called the SWBOM and Cybersecurity-SIG. In the workshop, the usage of SIG’s platform Sigrid® for managing SWBOMs and cybersecurity was addressed. By providing an integrated overview of vulnerabilities embedded in the SWBOM and the code itself, and by mapping these to industry standards, gaining insight, taking action, and demonstrating compliance is easier, faster, and more reliable. 💡 Overall, it was an inspiring and informative event that we were thrilled to be a part of! #SoftwareImprovementGroup #Siemens #Polarion4U #Cybersecurity

Green IT is generally perceived as a collection of practices aimed to making hardware and infrastructure more sustainable. 🌍🌱 But what about the software side? Sadly, it is often overlooked. While, in reality, the build quality of the software you develop can have quite an influence on how much energy each program takes to run and on your carbon footprint. That's right. Inefficient coding and decisions—made without sustainability in mind—can lead to software systems that consume more energy than necessary at every stage of the software development life cycle (SDLC). 🧑💻👩💻 Pepijn van de Kamp, our Head of Research and Innovation, wrote an article in which he delves into green software development and how it can reduce your carbon footprint. 📉🏭 Check out the full article (link in the comments) #GreenIT #GreenSoftware #SustainableIT #GreenComputing

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate a major milestone from our very own AI expert, Rob van der Veer, who just launched his first children’s book on AI! 🤖✨ With three decades of experience in AI, Rob has been instrumental in shaping global AI standards like ISO/IEC 5338 and was recently elected as the co-editor of the official AI Act Security Standard by European countries. But why stop there? The future of AI is exciting, and it's more important than ever to educate the next generation. In collaboration with Bessie Schenk and talented illustrator Mireille van Yperen, the book—Luna and the Magic AI Paintbrush—introduces children (ages 4-8) and their guardians to AI through a fun and creative story. It follows Luna, a young artist, as she explores how AI can enhance creativity while learning how to use it responsibly. 🎨📚 To celebrate the launch, Rob will be part of several exciting events: ✅ Oct 1-2: Book gifting at ONE Conference to 120 expert speakers in The Hague. ✅ Oct 9 (1-3 pm): Scavenger Hunt for Luna at City of Amsterdam Central Station. Find Luna and say “The Magic Still Comes from Me” for a surprise! ✅ Oct 9: Robot Tea Party at the World Summit AI in Amsterdam. ✅ Oct 10: Book Signing with code4thought at the World Summit AI. ✅ Oct 10: Luna’s Lessons Workshop at the World Summit AI. If you’re a parent, educator, or just interested in sharing AI’s potential with the next generation, this book is a must-read! Available in English, Dutch, and Spanish. 🌍📖 (📚 Link in comments) #AI #AISecurity #ChildrensBooks #Education

With the ICT industry projected to account for 1️⃣4️⃣% of global carbon emissions by 2040, concerns around carbon emissions in IT are growing. 🌱 Green IT may hold the key to reducing these footprints—but it’s not just about hardware or infrastructure. Software also plays a critical role.👩💻 Indeed, poor coding standards, inefficient system architectures, and energy-draining coding practices all contribute to excess energy consumption and a growing carbon footprint. 👣 Additionally, for hardware to operate efficiently—and sustainably—software must be fit for purpose. In his latest article, Pepijn van de Kamp, our Head of Research and Innovation, shares key practices. From adopting green coding practices to optimizing software for existing hardware and using low-carbon energy grids, Pepijn outlines clear ways to reduce IT’s carbon footprint. Read the full article and discover practical steps to make your software development greener and reduce your carbon footprint (Link in the comments ⬇️) #GreenSoftware #SustainableIT #CarbonFootprint #GreenIT
