Autistic Art Therapist Specializing in Late-Identified Autism, Author of "Life as a Late-Identified Autistic"

I'm looking for autistic writers for my next book, "The Joys of Being Autistic." It'll be the third book in my book series, "Life as a Late-Identified Autistic." The first two books in my series, "What is Autism?" and "Being an Autistic Writer" were written and illustrated by me. I’d like "The Joys of Being Autistic" to be a collection of essays by late-identified autistics. I want the book to explore and illustrate all that being neurodivergent can bring to our lives. Don’t worry — I’m well aware that being autistic comes with plenty of challenges. I write about those at length, and address them in my book "What is Autism?" With so many difficulties with being a late-identified autistic, I want a book that can provide a chance for us to breathe. A book for us to turn to when we needs some hope. A book for us to see neurodivergence from a different perspective. And that’s why I want the book to be a collection of essays by late-identified autistics. Maybe that person is you. Here’s what I’m looking for: Subject: What being autistic brings to your life. You can explore one positive aspect or multiple. It’s up to you. Length: 350–750 words (yes, I know that’s short… it’s the format for my entire "Life as a Late-Identified Autistic" series. I want the essays to be digestible.) Qualifications: You must be a late-identified autistic (meaning you self-identified or were diagnosed with autism at age 18+) Have I peaked your interest? I hope so! This is a self-funded passion project, and I cannot wait to get started! While I cannot provide financial compensation at the level I would like, I can provide all writers with: - $50 (via Venmo) - 1 signed paperback copy of the book - An author blurb in the book (an opportunity to share about your work, products, services, etc.) - Exposure to a wide audience of autistic readers Due to my limited funds, I can accept 10 writers as contributors to the book. I will likely contribute at least half of the essays in the book. I will also illustrate the book with 100+ illustrations. If you’d like to contribute, I will be accepting submissions until December 15th. You can submit your essay in my Google Form here: https://lnkd.in/eRTK4pQw

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we thought it appropriate to share a dialogue from earlier this year where we had gathered nonlinear thinkers from around the globe—including the Netherlands, the United States, South Africa, Portugal, and Saudi Arabia—to engage in a powerful dialogue that explores the complexities of mental health. At The Octopus Movement, we believe in harnessing the power of diverse perspectives to tackle global challenges. This dialogue on mental health exemplifies this approach, bringing together brilliant minds worldwide to explore creative solutions. What you'll discover in the video: • Fresh insights on mental health from global nonlinear thinkers • Innovative approaches to addressing mental health challenges • The power of collective intelligence in driving positive change As David Bohm said, "Dialogue is a participatory, collective way of opening up judgments and assumptions." By embracing this philosophy, we're unlocking new pathways for understanding and action in mental health. Ready to make a difference? Become part of our community of nonlinear thinkers passionate about creating a more sustainable future. Together, we can revolutionize how we approach mental health and other global issues. Join The Octopus Movement today and let's shape a brighter tomorrow through the power of human intelligence and creative thinking! https://lnkd.in/exfjQsEF Perry Knoppert Anthony Hall, HISP aka Grandpa STORK Lauren Colombo Clif P Lewis, PhD (he/him) Chrissy Bencivenga Lydia Lowery Busler Jennifer Hill Ambreen Nadeem Michelle Cheyne 🌀 Michelle Raz #WorldMentalHealthDay #NonlinearThinking #TheOctopusMovement #InnovationForChange #NGO #Youtube #

Meet the Other Octopi: Connecting Through the Human Mycelium At The Octopus Movement, we believe that the future of humanity is rooted in connection. Not the superficial kind, but the deep, intertwined, heart-centered connections that help us flourish—just like the mycelium that sustains life in nature. This week's "Meet the Other Octopi" features Cole Johnson 🌲, our new Human Connection Alchemist. Cole will share insights into building relationships that transcend boundaries and foster true growth—relationships that strengthen the very fabric of who we are, individually and collectively. The mycelium connects fungi to plants and trees, nourishing the entire ecosystem. Human Mycelium works the same way, linking people, ideas, and hearts across the globe. It’s no longer just about intellect or strength; it’s about compassion, understanding, and the incredible web of humans we’re building together. Join us for this unique opportunity to explore what’s possible when we come together, not just as thinkers, but as humans who care deeply for one another. This is the next phase of our evolution. #TheOctopusMovement #HumanMycelium #ConnectionIsPower #NonlinearThinking #EvolvingTogether
