#Circularity: How Velor is Leading the Charge in Cycling 🚴🏻♂️ I’m always excited to share stories about brands pushing boundaries in sustainability, and Velor is definitely one of them. They’ve embarked on a journey to create the world’s first fully circular cycling jersey, and their process is inspiring. Here’s how they’re making it happen: Step 1️⃣ Collect old jerseys – from individual cyclists, teams, and event organizers – to give them a new lease on life. Step 2️⃣ In collaboration with GR3N SA, Velor recycles those jerseys into high-quality polyester pellets that can be turned into new jerseys. They’re showing that we don’t need to rely on virgin materials to create high-performance gear. Step 3️⃣ Velor then recreates the entire value chain – from spinning, knitting, and everything in between – to transform these recycled materials into brand-new, sustainable jerseys. But it doesn’t stop there. Velor’s mission is to collect 5,000 jerseys by early 2025 and keep this circular movement going. You can even join them by sending in your own used jerseys, helping to reduce textile waste and making a real impact on the planet. Il y a quelques mois, Velor nous a approché pour nous parler de son initiative de maillot de cyclisme 100% circulaire, une première ! Notre fibre écolo n'a fait qu'un tour et nous avons répondu favorablement pour tester ce maillot, ainsi qu'un exemplaire plus "traditionnel" de la marque, déjà fabriqué à partir de 90 % de textile recyclé. Un essai concluant, largement enrichi par la discussion passionnante que nous avons pu avoir avec les fondateurs de l'entreprise, entre volonté de produire mieux et nécessité d'inventer un modèle économique qui marche dans le textile sur de petites séries de produits.
