A research exemption is a provision in patent law that allows researchers to perform R&D on patented inventions without infringing on the patent holder’s rights. Being a patent attorney allows exposure to cutting-edge technology, bright scientists, and entrepreneurs. It's rewarding to turn academic inventions into market innovations. So did our client Bioprex Medical, this startup developed an antibacterial coating for medical devices, preventing bacterial resistance. After securing proof-of-concept financing, they recently closed a new round for further development. This year, they’ll focus on preclinical evaluations and expanding partnerships.
