When Vripack founder Dick Boon and DaVinci founder Steven Boersma set out to create the perfect weekend boat, little did they know that their creation in 2002, the DaVinci 29, would pave the way for a flagship 44-foot model.   The DaVinci Yachts are designed inside and out by Vripack, including interior, exterior and naval architecture.   Inspiration came from the lobster boats that proliferate the US east coast, and the fluid lines of these elegant vessels remain integral to the DaVinci brand’s design DNA. “Owning a DaVinci is all about slowing down and being in the moment. These boats attract people who want to enjoy time on the water, rather than be seen on the water.” - Joost Mertens, Sales Manager at Vripack. DaVinci is more than a Dutch alliance. It’s a Friesland way of life.

The world’s largest true sportfisher, Special One — with interior, exterior and naval architecture by Vripack — won the award for Best Naval Architecture – Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts in the BOAT International Media Design and Innovation Awards 2025. The judges said: “Special One is unique in her scale and scope — she can go from zero to 30 knots in a minute, her turning circle is double her own boat length, she can go backwards at seven knots, and she’s designed to operate in the Gulf. There’s simply nothing like it.”

Vripack’s co-creative directors Bart Bouwhuis and Marnix J. Hoekstra took to the stage at BOAT International Media’s Superyacht Design Festival today to present an update on Project Zero - the world’s first fossil fuel free superyacht - and share some of the innovative design details. VRIPACK DESIGN’s creative directors Bart Bouwhuis and Marnix Hoekstra are giving an exclusive update on how the new energy technologies from the ground-breaking fossil-fuel-free ketch Project Zero are taking shape. The creative directors also explained the rationale behind some of the design features, including the wood of the interior, which is European oak harvested from Slovenia and Croatia, "consciously chosen to avoid shipping wood all over the globe"... #BOATDESIGNFEST

The next winner of the Best Naval Architecture, Semi‐Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts award was described as “unique in her scale and scope…There’s simply nothing like it.” Congratulations to the 52m Special One from Royal Huisman, with naval architecture from VRIPACK DESIGN. Amongst other innovations, Vripack designed a novel engine room air intake system that allows the yacht to stay cool even in balmy Arabian waters. #BOATDESIGNFEST
