The method emphasises involving future residents in the planning and transformation of care facilities to address their specific cultural and personal needs. Architects Alara and Renske aim to bridge the gap between different stakeholders—elderly residents (with and without migration background), informal caregivers, healthcare providers, municipalities, and designers—to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. This ultimately supports Livable's ambition to unify our passion for cognitive care and love for architecture in creating living environments where elderly thrive, embracing the uniqueness of every individuals’ needs. Gisteren was ik bij de inspiratiemiddag 'Zorgvastgoed en Gezonde leefomgeving'. Dit jaar gehost door Cosis in Apeldoorn. Het was een hele inspirerende middag waar ik vooral blij was te horen dat de boodschap en visie die wij als bureau uitdragen, nu ook hier zo sterk te horen was. Namelijk dat het niet (alleen) om de stenen gaat, maar vooral om de impact van de stenen op (kwetsbare) gebruikers. Waar ik maar even aan toevoeg dat het niet enkel gaat om wat het 'kost' maar vooral wat het oplevert. En als we dat goed kunnen onderbouwen met onderzoek en kennis, dan kunnen we nog veel meer uit onze (bouw)projecten halen. Maar daarnaast met een verschuiving van visie en focus. Over inclusieve wijken, samen, maatschappij en gewoon (doen). Na een inspirerende start met een presentatie van Margreet de Graaf over 'lessons Learned' vanuit een werkbezoek naar Japan, tot de altijd inspirerende en overtuigende lezing van Floris Alkemade en tot slot maakte Kirsten Lamberts en Annet van der Velde - Welfing het thema tastbaar en persoonlijk door je te laten verplaatsen in de wereld van een client. Na het planaire programma volgt ik twee eveneens inspirerende workshops van Anneke Nijhoff over bouwen aan inclusieve wijken en van Jochum Deuten over de haalbaarheid van projecten op basis van maatschappelijk rendement. We kijken naar de mens! Fijn ook weer veel bekende gezichten te zien en vooral weer te ervaren wat er leeft aan de kant van veel van onze opdrachtgevers. Zo kunnen wij ook weer kijken hoe we daar een bijdrage aan kunnen leveren. Tot volgend jaar denk ik! O....en de schets; doe ik graag, beeldend wat ik hoor vastleggen. 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲🧡We are extremely proud that, with team Livable, we were one of the five teams selected for the second round of the residential care challenge launched by studio Rijksbouwmeester. ‘The Netherlands is ageing. The demand for care is growing and the number of people who can provide that care is decreasing. This calls for developing resilient communities and accessible homes and neighbourhoods in which people feel at home and connected and care for each other. The Residential Care Challenge is a new tool for housing corporations to develop locations not only spatially, but also socially. With it, the College of Government Advisors (CRa) helps realise new forms of living and care, supported by the ministries of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK).’ We delivered a strategy and first draft vision for the participation process for the Beresteinlaan site in The Hague Southwest. 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲🤝 Last week, Livable's Alara Külekci, Jan Booij, Renske de Meijer and Frans Hoogeveen joined the Annual Meeting of European Network of Intercultural Elderly Care. Every year, ENIEC meets in a different city to discuss a specific theme. This year in Helsinki, they discussed the daily lives of older people from a human rights perspective. 🧡Renske: "One of the places we visited was HyMy-village at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, an environment where students, professionals and locals work together to “co-create” wellbeing and health services. Supervised by health care professionals, students develop their future skills and expertise, while involving the local people in creating services they think are needed. A inspiring collaboration that could be taken as an example for other initiatives as well."   🧡Alara: "In one of the workshops, we delved into a case study featuring an elderly couple coming from another country and residing in Finland. They sought a new dwelling tailored to their specific needs. Collaborating with professionals from diverse backgrounds and expertise, we had a chance to brainstorm about the human rights perspective in this scenario. Trying to solve this wicked problem offered insights from a range of fields and it was an enlightening experience." The three-day trip was packed with interesting discussions, workshops, visits, lots of tasty food and even some folk dancing during the notorious dinner party following the general assembly.
