Global Health education at home – Sept 2024 we started our yearly #LUMC Year-3 Half Minor #GlobalHealth for medical students. Visiting students (n=6) from Indonesia working with Dutch students (n=12) in Leiden, while collaborating online with Tanzanian students (n=12) from KCM University College (#KCMuC). During 4 weeks the students had to prepare several (online) assignments in small groups. This gave them the opportunity to explore and compare clinical practise and public health approaches between the three different countries. Great collaboration with Dr. Jeremia J Pyuza and @Elichilia Shaothe of KCMuC. LUMC Global

🚨 Exciting Research Alert! 🚨 We are thrilled to share the publication of the latest joint research between University of Indonesia and Leiden University Medical Center in Nature Communications!📖✨ This groundbreaking study uses high dimensional immune profiling and complex data analysis to explore how the immune profiles of Dutch participants of controlled hookworm infection compare to those of Indonesians naturally infected individuals in endemic regions. This research is a crucial step towards developing an effective vaccine for hookworm infections, which remain a major public health challenge in many parts of the world. 🌍 The results underscore the importance of understanding host immune responses for the rational design of vaccines, aiming to complement current mass drug administration strategies and tackle reinfection challenges. 🌍This study shows the importance of our collaboration with Indonesia and Universitas Indonesia combining state-of-the-art technologies with on-the-ground knowledge, expertise, and shared datasets.
