🌍 On June 26th, Anita Skog represented Norway at the UNECE Innovation and Competitiveness Policies (ICP) panel discussion on "Innovation-Enhancing Procurement for the Circularity Transition." This event was part of the Committee on Innovation, Competitiveness, and Public-Private Partnerships. The focus of the discussion was on “Reversing Course: Innovation-Enhancing Procurement for the Circularity Transition”. The panel explored how innovation-enhancing public procurement can be a powerful tool for advancing the transition to a more circular and sustainable economy. 🌍♻️ 📚 The UNECE Team of Specialists on Innovation and Competitiveness Policies (ToS-ICP) has developed a Policy Guidance on Innovation-enhancing Procurement, endorsed by the CICPPP in 2021. This guidance has been implemented in various countries, including Georgia, through tailored policy handbooks and study tours to Norway. To successfully mainstream innovation, circularity, and sustainability into procurement practices, governments need to know how to manage risks, improve the skills of public procurement officials, enhance data collection and monitor results, and try out new forms of partnerships and coordination. 💡 Anita joined an incredible panel moderated by Tim Forslund, Circular Economy Specialist at The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. The panel included esteemed members such as Kakha Demetrashvili, Carla Dekker, Matej Cerovšek, Jakob Lindvall, and Jon Mikel Zabala-Iturriagagoitia. We are grateful to UN-ECE Transformative Innovation Network (ETIN) and UNECE Innovation and Competitiveness Policies (ICP) for the opportunity to participate in advancing circular economy initiatives on the international stage. 👏 Dmitry Mariyasin Elisabeth Türk Anders Jonsson Mikael Román Immanuela Badde Tim Forslund Kakha Demetrashvili Matej Cerovšek Carla Dekker Jon Mikel Zabala-Iturriagagoitia Jakob Lindvall Kirsi Hanhisalo Cathrine Barth Natascha Schmitt #ArcticPioneers #UNECE #CircularEconomy #Innovation #SustainableDevelopment #PublicProcurement #ClimateAction #Norway #GlobalImpact

Arctic Pioneers has been actively involved in the development of Sortland Havn as a green port. During the Gaia Arctic Summit, we collaborated with SORTLAND HAVN KF and EDIH Oceanopolis and organized a workshop to highlight ports as green, multimodel hubs. Cathrine Barth moderated the workshop and Svetlana Hansen from Fjuel, Robert Iversen Bogard from Signify, and Mathilde Winther from ilder showcased the possibilities of a multimodal hub for a green port following the example set by Trygve A. Meyer EDIH's multimodal hub. 🌱 The shift towards green, multimodal maritime hubs brings significant economic and social benefits to local communities. These hubs play a vital role in local economies by facilitating trade and providing jobs, while also promoting sustainability. Sortland Havn is embracing green technologies to minimize environmental impact and transform into a green maritime hub. 🤝 We anticipate successful collaborations and the realization of these green initiatives and multimodal developments in Sortland Havn and other maritime ports in Northern Norway, delivering long-term benefits to our communities. Reflections from Arctic Pioneers on the Gaia Arctic Summit 💚 We are overwhelmed by the incredible response, appreciation, and the weight of responsibility that comes with hosting a climate change event. From the outset, we made it clear to our audience, speakers, participants, and partners that the Gaia Arctic Summit wasn't just another climate talk show. Our mission was clear: 🎯 we aimed to make a tangible difference for the Arctic and Northern Norway. 🎯 An opportunity for locals to build network with national and international expertise. 🎯 We set out to shed light on overlooked policies, highlight financial sector schemes in climate-friendly initiatives, and showcase sustainable businesses driving both environmental and economic success. Now, as the event draws to a close, we bear the responsibility of turning our gains into action. Together, we'll work to ensure that when we reconvene next year, more businesses in the North have benefited, and our reach extends even further into coastal communities. We're keen to begin working on the report, initiatives, and solutions that will encourage coastal communities and businesses in the north to take action for a sustainable and climate-friendly future. Our commitment to climate action and Northern Norway continues 🌍💪 Odd Are Svensen Ane Høyem Grete Ellingsen Anita Skog Andrea Liverani Kim Noguera Gabrielli André Küüsvek Anders Jonsson Brita Staal Arne Ivar Mikalsen Philippe Tulkens Runa Haug Khoury Kirsti Helene Rødfjell Meidelsen Martin Rasmussen Stig Pettersen Marthe Hov Jacobsen Laura Wendling Trude Glad Marthe Haugland Tarjei Nødtvedt Malme Daniel Sowe Michal Meyer Nilssen Cathrine Barth Einar Kleppe Holthe Marianne Bahr Simonsen Trygve A. 💡 One of the initial projects by Arctic Pioneers was Green Maritime through innovative procurement in Northern Norway. Our research uncovered numerous promising projects that could enhance green maritime practices in the region. Since then, Arctic Pioneers has been dedicated to the port industry, recognizing it as a key area of focus.💪 On May 16, Arctic Pioneers' Anita Skog attended the "Ports Will Drive Norway’s Coastal Digitalisation" workshop. This workshop, organized by EDIH Oceanopolis, highlighted the importance of digitalizing Norway’s ports to accelerate business growth in coastal areas and reduce national transportation emissions. Alongside Anita, the workshop featured speakers from various sectors, including Gunnulf Rasmussen, Stig Marthinsen, Eivind Hornnes, and Fredrik Bringager, who shared their expertise. This interactive discussions provided a platform for participants to explore the transformation of ports into multimodal and multipurpose hubs for intelligent and sustainable transportation and industry. Stig Marthinsen, CEO of EDIH Oceanopolis shared "We are only at the beginning of a journey. There are more conversations to be had and projects to be developed".
