Despite our digital transformation, construction projects face a critical challenge: as data grows, meaningful information actually diminishes between project phases. The culprits? ❗Changing teams, ❗Incompatible software, ❗Shifting priorities They create information silos that fragment project knowledge. The solution is surprisingly simple: Enable information tracking and progress across the entire project lifecycle. This approach eliminates silos, reduces errors, and ensures critical knowledge remains accessible throughout construction and beyond. How to do that? Om oss
BIM Corner is a blog mainly focused on Building Information Modeling technology. Our main goal is to spread knowledge in the field of BIM and its practical use in construction projects. We did not want to create another place where BIM is presented only in theory. We wanted our reader to be able to learn practical knowledge which can be used on a daily basis. Help us change the face of today’s construction industry and join the group of BIM Corner readers. We are convinced that this decision will be beneficial for you and your future career.

Artificial intelligence is not the future; it is the present. How does it look in construction? Where are we now? Are there already real applications of this technology? Read an article by Marcin P. that explores this topic in detail. He lists practical examples that are already used in today's projects.

We need your help! 🙏 Please help us! BIM Corner team is planning 5 practical workshops on Mastering IFC—packed with real-world examples, hands-on tips, and live Q&A. The plan is to make over 15 hours of valuable, practical content to help you get the most out of IFC. Here’s our initial idea: 📌 What is IFC? 📌 Correctly exporting IFC files 📌 IFC viewers and data validation 📌 Using and modifying IFC files 📌 Real project examples and workflows 📌 .... <-- your input What do you think? Which topics matter most to you? What would you add? Your feedback will help us create the best possible agenda. 👉 Share your feedback by filling out this short (2 min) form: https://tally.so/r/w7458Z Who is in charge of creating the best content? To be able to deliver project without drawings I could summarize requirements as: All relevant construction information has to be shown in the model viewer software available on the construction site, each information piece has only one place it can be managed from and everything has to be reachable through the cloud. The harder question is how to deliver that in practice. We need software right? So with each procurement, before the project made the decision on what to use, we had to ensure that software fits into our needs. We defined them as: 1. Supporting open standards: IFC, BCF workflow 2. Operating on huge models (over 100GB of IFC files) 3. Understanding IFC User Defined Property Sets and ability to use them (as flags for example) 4. Possibility to define own Primary Key and Foreign Key properties 5. Level of cooperation with other software in our package - None - impossible to connect - Low - connection via Excel import/exports - Medium - connection via IFC/BCF files - High - connection via APIs Do you want to read more about software flow in the model-based construction project? There are 5 common mistakes fresh BIM Coordinators make in their job 👇 Ignacy Lozinski from our team gathered them in 1 condense article. Here is a sneak peek. #1 Most frequent frustration for new BIM Coordinators is dealing with 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 due to poorly understood coordinate systems. #2 - Diving into 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Often fresh BIM Coordinators run a general clash detection tests without focusing on the areas that matter most. #3 Lack of prioritization of coordination issues. Remember that - 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, #4 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀, such as PDFs or Excel spreadsheets, to communicate issues with the rest of the team. #5 Meetings are a vital part of BIM Coordination, but 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 can waste time and leave teams feeling more confused than before. In the article you will find advice how to avoid these mistakes and make your BIM Coordinators life easier. Have a read👇: https://lnkd.in/dk3v8vse
