New Cruise & Ferry Terminal Underway in Torshavn 🚢 The Port of Tórshavn has begun construction on a new DKK 70 million (€9.4M) terminal, designed to serve both cruise and international ferry passengers. The 7,000m² building, set for completion in June 2026, will feature modern facilities, including ocean thermal energy heating to reduce its environmental footprint 🌍 Built in partnership with Smyril Line, this project enhances Torshavn’s capacity and prepares for future operational needs, including new entry/exit systems. Cruise Europe’s Atlantic Regional Meeting in Amsterdam: Key Industry Discussions 🌍 On February 12, Atlantic Europe port and associate members, alongside CE Chair Simone Tommaso Maraschi and Managing Director Jens Chr. Skrede, gathered at Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (and online) to discuss pressing industry topics. Key Highlights: ✅ Port Performance & Growth: Notable increases in calls & passenger numbers for Lisbon, Zeebrugge, Leixoes, Hamburg, Rotterdam, and more. ✅ Regulatory Updates: Amsterdam’s call limits, EES timeline (now set for November 2025), and 90% emissions reduction by 2040. ✅ Onshore Power Supply (OPS): Members toured Amsterdam’s new OPS system, launching this year. ✅ Booking Policy Survey: Varied approaches across ports; discussion on transparency and alignment. ✅ Industry Outlook: 35.7M cruise passengers expected in 2024, with 50 new ships ordered through 2028.
