Hurtigruten Group la ut dette på nytt
2023 marks a significant milestone in Hurtigruten Foundation as we have more than doubled our fundraising from 2022. We give all the funds we raise to worthy causes, and I am delighted to announce that 17 projects will benefit from our latest bi-annual grant. Ahead of the new year, we’ll be giving a total of 1.5 million NOK to these exciting projects, providing vital funding towards marine mammal conservation, climate change research, marine litter clean-ups and community projects around the world. Additionally, as part of our ongoing mission to support local communities and drive sustainable change, the Hurtigruten Foundation will commit a further 660,000 NOK in 2024 and 2025 to projects benefiting from multi-year support. We are excited to support continued research by the world-renowned whale expert Ari Friedlaender at the University of California, Santa Cruz. The research team will measure the impacts of climate change on Ocean Sentinels, the humpback whale, in Antarctica. With this grant, his team will be able to continue collecting drone footage and biopsy samples from humpback whales throughout the feeding season over a three-year period while onboard HX Hurtigruten Expeditions ships.
