Bioteknologisk forskning
Innovating the world of ingredients, feeding future generations protein without relying on arable land
Om oss
We're a biotech/foodtech startup specialising in alternative protein on a mission to tackle food scarcity caused by overpopulation and climate change. We're redefining the way we feed the world with the help of mushrooms. We're addressing global food scarcity - a critical issue impacting billions. As traditional agriculture struggles to meet the growing demand for protein, strains resources, leading to deforestation, excessive water use, and increasing emissions. Our solution provides sustainable and nutritious alternative protein which plays a role in mitigating food scarcity challenges. The founders, driven by a shared passion for both scientific innovation and ecological preservation, came together to address this urgent issue. We believe that our actions today can create a lasting positive impact on the world, ensuring that future generations have access to nutritious food without compromising the health of our planet.

🌍Earth Month is an important reminder to practice sustainable practices and raise environmental awareness. While Earth Day encourages action, continuous environmental changes demand constant efforts to protect our world. Moreshrooms is committed to creating solutions that are both accessible and environmentally friendly. Here's how fermentation-based protein and seaweed contribute to a sustainable future: Fermentation-Based Protein: 1️⃣ Sustainable Sourcing: Fermentation provides an alternative protein source that uses less resources and emits fewer emissions than tradional based proteins. 2️⃣ Environmental Resilience: By using fermentation-based protein, we could reduce the consequences of environmental changes such as floods and land degradation, assuring a secure food source for future generations. Seaweed Benefits: 1️⃣ Climate Adaptability: "According to recent research (Frontiers in Plant Science, 2022), seaweed production demonstrates resilience to environmental disruptions like floods and droughts, making it a reliable food source amidst climate challenges." https://shorturl.at/mJQU1 2️⃣ Carbon Sequestration: Farming seaweed can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. As we appreciate our planet and take steps to keep it safe for coming generations throughout the month of April. Join us in celebrating this important occasion with 5 environmentally responsible suggestions that align with Moreshrooms' mission. 🌱 #earthMonth #sustainability #MoreshroomsMission #environmentalAwareness #sustainableSolutions

"At Moreshrooms AS, our mission is clear: we're committed to revolutionizing protein to create a sustainable future for all. 🌱 By focusing on innovative protein solutions, we aim to address the environmental challenges associated with traditional protein sources. Our goal is to provide consumers with a sustainable alternative that not only meets their nutritional needs but also supports the health of the planet. Through our dedication to research and development, we're harnessing the power of mushrooms to produce mycoprotein, a sustainable protein source that requires fewer resources and has a lower environmental impact compared to conventional protein sources. 💪By offering a viable and eco-friendly protein option, we're striving to empower individuals to make environmentally conscious choices without compromising on taste or nutrition. Join us on our mission to build a brighter, more sustainable future through the power of protein innovation." #SustainableProtein #ProteinInnovation #Mycoprotein #SustainableFuture #EnvironmentalHealth #ClimateAction #NutritionForAll

We often hear about the impact of our food system on greenhouse gas emissions, but have you ever wondered just how significant it is? 🌱🌍🍽 Different studies have attempted to answer this question, resulting in varying estimates. 📊In 2019, Hannah Ritchie's study suggested that a quarter of emissions are attributed to food, taking into account factors like land use, crop production, livestock, and supply chain emissions (Hannah Ritchie - “Food production is responsible for one-quarter of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions”). 📊However, in 2021, Monica Crippa and her colleagues proposed a higher figure of 34%, accounting for post-retail emissions such as food waste and cooking emissions (Crippa, M., Solazzo, E., Guizzardi, D. et al. "Food systems are responsible for a third of global anthropogenic GHG emissions." Nat Food2, 198–209). So, our food system's contribution to global emissions falls between 25% and 30%. 📈Furthermore, a 2021 United Nations report highlights the increasing energy intensity of the global food system, emphasizing the urgent need for change. We must develop new technologies and integrate sustainability into every aspect of the food system. 🌍✨ This aligns with Moreshrooms' goals, but it's a collective effort. What actions will you take to reduce your carbon footprint through your food choices? 🍴 #climatechange #greenhouseemissions #foodsystem #food #foodemissions #climateimpact

Ever heard of the word "serendipity"? It's a lovely concept that's been with me since my days at UiO, thanks to Tronn Å. Skjerstad. Serendipity is all about those unexpected moments that can shape our entrepreneurial journey. So, why is serendipity crucial in entrepreneurship? Moreshrooms AS, the startup I co-founded, owes its existence to serendipity. If I hadn't moved to Norway, I would have been focusing on my family company. Instead, I embarked on a new adventure and met incredible people along the way. Now, let me share a few of my own serendipitous moments: 🎓 Applying to a master's course based on a friend's recommendation led me to Norway, where I met my incredible co-founders, Defne Bilgin and Mehidi Rashid. 💎 Attending a demo day in Forskningsparken - Oslo Science Park introduced me to Even Lauritz Iralu Dahl, our mentor, whose support has been invaluable. 🌍 During our master's thesis on Moreshrooms, Defne and I stumbled upon Systems Innovation on LinkedIn, which enabled us to host an international workshop on systems thinking in the alternative protein transition (Thank you Joss Colchester and others!) 🎉 Attending Oslo Innovation Week unexpectedly landed me at biotope by VIB basecamp in Belgium. These serendipitous moments have played a crucial role in our entrepreneurial journey with Moreshrooms. They've opened doors, connected us with amazing people, and fueled our growth. So, my question to you is this: What serendipitous moments have you encountered in your entrepreneurial journey?

🌩 🚀 Climate emergency, could it be the greatest threat and opportunity? Last week, our CEO, Defne Bilgin, addressed this issue in a discussion at The British School of Brussels. Together with other panellists including Andrea Liverani from the World Bank, climate coach Fons Feekes and Mathilde Carbonnelle from the European Commission, they looked at the challenges and opportunities from different stakeholders and industries. The panel was designed to inspire students and provide insight into different viewpoints through authentic voices, giving future generations enough elements to understand and address the defining challenge of our time. The panel generated a great deal of curiosity among the youth and we hope that we have inspired them to see this challenge, not only as a threat, but as an opportunity. Thank you BSB for the invitation to participate in the panel and for the chance to inspire future generations ✨ We leave you with the link to their article on the event, if you are curious about how to turn climate change into an opportunity 💡 https://lnkd.in/dgVJMEaU #climatechange #education #climatemergency #futuregeneration #sustainability #betterfuture
