Workshop on ammonia system safety in a Norwegian maritime fuel value chain 🛥️💧 Last week we hosted a workshop on ammonia system safety in Florø. The Norwegian maritime sector has a stated goal of reducing their climate emissions with 50% by 2030. One solution that has gained momentum is the use of ammonia as fuel. During the workshop we discussed ammonia system safety, applied on the Norwegian maritime fuel chain, with the ammonia bunkering site as the core system under study. Key take aways from the workshop is ✅ the need for collaboration, ✅ focus on standardisation and ✅ a clear definition of roles and responsibilities in the value chains.   The workshop was organized within the research project MaritimeNH3 led by SINTEF Energy Research AS, a project founded by the Green Plattform by Norges forskningsråd. This competence-building project is part of industry project Ammonia Fuel Bunkering Network (AFBN), led by AZANE Fuel Solutions, where Ocean Hyway Cluster has been one of the partners from the start. 🌊🚢 It’s a wrap! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 🌊🚢 We recently gathered 125 participants for our annual Maritime Hydrogen Conference on October 15-16, where the overarching theme was turning 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. There's a strong sense of 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐦 as we navigate a challenging landscape, with progress being made at every turn—several hydrogen ships are now in operation, ammonia ships are being ordered, and multiple production plants are up and running!   𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is the heart of the cluster and this conference remains our key platform for understanding the industry's challenges and defining our strategic activities. Let's remember why we’re here: to lead the charge towards a greener maritime industry. Day 1 of the Maritime Hydrogen Conference is a wrap! 🤝 We heard some valuable messages throughout the day. As Jens Berge reminded us: “When the path is blocked, remember you don’t always have to push through—sometimes the smartest move is to chart a different course.” Several attendees also found themselves “shopping in the valley,” exploring the innovation and opportunities this industry holds 🚢⚡️ Now, we’re off to a strong start on Day 2! This morning, Linn Therese Erve introduced Sustainable Energy Norwegian Catapult Centre, a great initiative helping companies develop and test sustainable products and systems 🌱🔋 It’s inspiring to see how the industry is forging ahead when progress elsewhere seems to be stalling.
