Our analysts have been busy. They've been looking into the future, modelling how quickly (or slowly) the energy transition can happen in the Green Transition Scenarios 2024. Here’s just a taste of what they found: 😯 The report projects global power demand to increase to 67,000 TWh by 2050 in the green scenario (most optimistic) where the dominant energy sources are solar and wind power. This is more than a doubling from today. 💨Speaking of solar and wind: their collective power output is projected to quadruple by 2030 and increase 1300% by 2050. 🌡 When it comes to emissions, our analysts foresee a relatively quick decrease in global energy-related CO2 emissions in the green scenario resulting in a pathway that limits global warming to under 2ºC. In a delayed scenario, however, a slower decarbonisation of end-use sectors is the main reason why we see lower emissions reductions consistent with a pathway giving a temperature increase of 2.4ºC.
