The inaugural TQC Top to Toe 5K started above the clouds on Saturday! Over 100 racers and volunteers participated in this epic event benefiting local non-profits in Spruce Pine, NC.

In 2011, Imerys Minerals and Norsk Minerals merged their key production plants—Spruce Pines, North Carolina, and Drag, Norway—to form The Quartz Corp (TQC). This 50/50 joint venture, capitalising on the expertise of both companies, and Imerys’ access to the world's purest quartz deposit, has enabled The Quartz Corp to supply top quality High Purity Quartz to customers within a variety of industries. Our High Purity Quartz is unique, sourced from Spruce Pines, the only mine on earth with quartz pure enough to produce the crucibles needed to manufacture semiconductor ingots. Taking this unique product from Spruce Pines, combining this with our other pure quartz source in Drag, Norway, treating it in our plant in Drag, allows us to produce both standardised and specialised products for our customers, based on their needs. Working closely with customers and strategic partners, we strive to be the highest quality and most reliable producer of High Purity Quartz materials, providing solutions to our customers' evolving needs.

Volunteer day - Bringing value to communities. This is the fourth year The Quartz Corp has carried out a volunteer day at Drag in Hamarøy. Being a large company in a small local community in Nordland is a big opportunity. But it also comes with a responsibility. This is why we last week reduced the activity at the factory to put 100 colleagues into volunteer work 🦺. It wasn't only The Quartz Corp that contributed. We are so proud to be partners with the ⚽FK BODØ/GLIMT that mobilized 25 players and coaches to contribute making this a memorable day for children and youth. We see it as our responsibility to contribute to growth in the entire region, to create life in the neighborhoods after working hours, and to get people to want to settle here. That the people who work with us have the opportunity to give something back to the local community is an important part of this. The spirit of community effort (dugnad) is an essential part of Norwegian society, and we see it very strongly here at Drag. Everyone helps each other - thank you all for making this happen 💫

Who would have thought that deep in the heart of fjord country high above the Arctic Circle, there lies a world-class laboratory contributing to the refinement of one of the purest minerals on the planet. Meet Elena, our lead lab technician at our production site in Drag, Norway. From here, she and her team test, analyze and validate our products and processes, allowing us to provide high purity quartz to the most demanding applications within solar, semiconductor and optical fiber industries. Sometimes, the technology quietly changing our world can be found in the most unexpected places (even if it means that the people making this possible have to get up at 4:45am to catch the ferry across the fjord!)
