We all know we need more renewables to get to zero carbon future. But the power system needs to be running 24/7. So, what do we do when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow? 👀 Listen in to Jacob Dalton, Head of Trading, explaining how Grid Rewards will get you from savings to earnings – while enabling more renewables. #VPP #GridRewards #Earnmoneywhileyousleep

Daniel Verhoog and his wife, from Beverwijk, Netherlands, use the Tibber Pulse to optimize their EV charging 🚙 ⚡️. “Imagine you drive this hybrid Volvo XC60 Polestar,” says Daniel. “The consumption is 22 kWh per 100 km. And you pay 25 cents per kWh with a dynamic contract. Then this will cost you 22 x 0.25 = € 5.50 per 100 km 💸 Driving cheaper is almost impossible!” 🚙 Thanks for being a smart energy user, Daniel 🤩

🚨 Yikes! Winter peak prices are here, and we’re seeing some pretty steep rates in Sweden (with SE4 at almost 4X average!), Germany and the Netherlands for a few hours thanks to low wind production. In fact, German wind power hasn't produced this little wind power in 10 years! But don’t worry - you can dodge those high costs by being a smart energy user! Just remember to use smart charging for your car and smart heating in your home (they’re two of the biggest energy hogs). And if you can, save charging your EV for when prices drop 🚗 Why the peaks? We can thank low wind and solar power production. “The high peak prices we see is due to remarkably low wind power output in Continental Europe and the southern part of the Nordics," says Tibber Quantitative Analyst Sebastian Genas. "This in combination with low solar power output and higher consumption when temperatures are falling."

𝘿𝙮𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙨: 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖 𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮, 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙮’𝙨 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙 👀 Last week, Merlin Lauenburg, Managing Director of Tibber Germany, had the opportunity to discuss the state of play of dynamic tariffs together with smart energy experts Sebastian Mahlow (ison GmbH) and Oliver Bolay (EWE AG) at #energatetalks by energate. The topic is generating a lot of buzz in German media at the moment - but things are developing too slowly there, if you ask Merlin. Only about 2% of German households own a #smartmeter today and can thus benefit from dynamic tariffs. As a comparison, in Norway 93% of households use an hourly #dynamictariff 🇳🇴. The panel discussion focused on how to accelerate #flexibilisation in Germany. Here were Merlin’s key takeaways: 🎛️ Smart meter rollout must be facilitated The German energy law is about to change - making it so that even fewer people will get a smart meter anytime soon. The experts on the panel agreed unanimously that this isn’t the correct step and that most households should be able to benefit from the possibility of dynamic price offerings in the near future. 💰 Investing in the rollout now will save money later Not to go all the way with smart meters and flexibilization will cost even more money down the line than investing in it now, the experts found. Our home markets - Norway and Sweden - are very good examples of that. 📈 Giving people the technology will make them want dynamic tariffs Once consumers have smart meters at home, their interest in dynamic tariffs will increase automatically. We expect a significant pull effect on the market that will drive demand for flexible offerings. Would you add anything to the list?

How can we encourage our neighbours to invest in clean tech? Show by example, of course! It’s contagious 🔋⚡️ Last week, Johan Warburg proudly completed the transformation of his 1870s German farmhouse into a modern icon of energy transition. With a 18 kWp solar system Warburg installed himself, a 12kw heat pump to replace an old gas boiler, an Easee charger, and last but not least a smart meter and Pulse - the 2-year long project was completed 👏 ”All the pieces work well together, and we were able to demonstrate to the (sometimes very skeptical) people around us that even such old buildings can be brought into the future of clean energy,” says Warburg. *Johan Warburg is Market Development Manager at Tibber Get your Easee charger and Pulse at Tibber today: https://lnkd.in/eK_xtrui https://lnkd.in/eFyiJk_z

🚨 Attention all Energy Heroes! A combination of heavy rain and strong winds will see very low spot prices early this week in the Nordics - with Monday being on average negative for all Swedish areas, which is the first time since August 26th! Be clever and optimise your energy usage during lower-cost hours - a win-win for you and the planet 🌱⚡️ Average Nordic temperatures were forecast at 10-12 early this week, twice the seasonal average, while wind power output would peak at 25 GW on Monday and stay above the seasonal average of 13 GW throughout the week, according to Montel Analytics.
