🖤 We’re creating some black magic at our precast concrete factory! 🔎 The complexity of achieving a rich black concrete is real – it requires precise control over pigments, mixing, and curing, all of which can be affected by environmental factors and the concrete's composition. Also, maintaining a consistent dark colour across large surfaces, like #façade walls, can be challenging, as concrete may fade or develop uneven shades over time due to factors like efflorescence, weather, and other influences. 📷 In the photos you can see samples from our research process, kept in an open environment to test how the products react over time, as well as one of our reference projects for black concrete facades — Magdelēnas kvartāls office building in Riga, Latvia. At UPB, we are continuously researching ways to address these complexities and create beautiful, durable, and sustainable facades that stand the test of time.

🙌 Elegant yet playful – that’s one of our most impressive frame and façade projects from last year Brf Växeln in Sweden! 💡 This project draws attention not only for its impressive size, with more than 200 new apartments, but also for its unique and vibrant facade, made from 3-layer #concrete walls in 9 different colours with additional visual accents of three various #formliners. 🛠️ UPB was responsible for the building's #framework and #facade, handling everything from element design to the production, delivery, and installation on-site.   Developer: HSB Bostad AB Architects: Semrén & Månsson

Check out how we manage a full-service façade for the impressive Grid 17 project in Sweden! From engineering and production to on-site installation, UPB, AS team handled every step of the way 👌. The load-bearing #façade elements, made from prefab #concrete walls with formliner finish, are produced #offsite, with windows and blinds pre-installed at our facility. Such approach allows for the simultaneous enclosure of the building envelope, optimizing the installation of both the framework and façade. We are now in the final stage of installing the framework and façade structures and look forward to completing the project within the next month.   UPB scope: Design, production, logistics, and installation of framework and facade structures. With the last #framework element installed, our team has reached the highest floor of Sickla Central! Kudos to the project team for achieving this major milestone! 👏 Meanwhile, our #façade unit is right on track with the installation of #unitized facade elements, bringing us closer to the finish line and closing the building’s envelope. For the 90-meter high Sickla Central, UPB’s scope covers full-service solution for both framework and façade structures, allowing us to organize #installation works simultaneously and more effectively. 🎈 Another impressive project has landed on the streets of Stockholm - the office building #Ballongflygaren! The building’s façade is made of 3-layer concrete walls with brick finish. The arrangement of bricks in various directions creates eye-catching patterns, adding a unique interplay of façade tones and extra character to the building. The UPB team took full responsibility from take-off to the completion of design, production and installation of #steel and #concrete structures, including three-layer concrete walls. It was a pleasure to lead a workshop on #hybrid #timber #framework structures and share UPB’s expertise in assembling structures that blend different disciplines—prefab concrete, steel, CLT, and glulam—while showcasing one of our recent hybrid projects, the Arvid Nordquist HAB Kafferosteri. Here is a gist of some of the challenges we discussed during the workshop that need to be targeted in the planning of hybrid frame systems: ✔ Early risk identification – evaluate possibilities and build scenarios for potential assembly schedule delays to eliminate moisture-related damages. ✔ Special attention to moisture protection – tight collaboration and coordination between contractor and supplier to ensure flexibility of the assembly process, enabling timely protection of timber structures. ✔ Detailed division of responsibility to avoid grey areas in assembly and design – connection details and joints, moisture protection after element assembly, and defining assembly tolerances. Special thanks to Tomas Holmér, Kafferosteri’s project manager, for hosting us and providing valuable insights into RO-Gruppen AB approach on protecting timber structures during the assembly process. 📩 If you’d like to know more about our experiences in these projects, feel free to contact Jānis Šimanskis and Toms Liepiņš!

🗝️ Today, in a warm and cheerful atmosphere, we celebrated the opening of one of our Design & Build projects – the new Knauf Latvija office building! 🌳 A major focus of this project was on incorporating sustainable solutions, while also meeting the highest standards of energy efficiency and quality. The new office not only embodies the core values of Knauf Latvija but also showcases the quality and advantages of their own materials, which were used throughout the construction process. 📌 Together we have created a modern and comfortable work environment for over 75 employees. 🙌 Thanks to everyone involved for making this project a success!

🎉 Honouring our long-time employees is a new tradition we have established in our glass and glazed aluminium production divisions. With a specially designed gift, we thank our colleagues who are celebrating their work anniversaries this year – 10, 15, 20, 25, and even 30 years! 👏 One of these long-time colleagues is Valdis Zīle, the head of the glazed-aluminium estimation department, who has been with our team for 20 years. We truly appreciate his loyalty, professionalism, and contributions to our shared development throughout all these years!

What a journey it was – transporting this 50-meter-long, single-piece duplex #stainless #steel bridge from Latvia to Sweden! 🚚 🚢 Produced at our RK Metals steel factory, the bridge truly is a giant – over 4 meters high, almost 5 meters wide, and weighing an impressive 57.8 tonnes. For those curious, we can now confirm that the bridge has safely reached its final destination in Sweden! Hats off to our logistics team for successfully handling this massive task! 🙌 Interested in our capabilities for producing such large-scale steel structures? Contact Mikelis M. and learn more.
