The funny thing is ... that the reason why Tesla is so well received in the marketplace is because the cars are largely designed to be conventional (while upscale). Why the others trying to play in the field of electric cars feel that the cars need to look unconventional and cartoonish is beyond me. Also, Tesla allows for being off of gasoline and oil (in essence) while appealing at the same time to the driving enthusiast. Things like the Google car are for people who need a way to go Point A to B, but get no enjoyment from the actual drive.

I wouldn't write off McDonalds just yet. They are still a category leader. They are also innovating quite a bit and disrupting themselves.

It all comes down to Tesla's ability to consistently deliver performance and live up to the PR generated out of the amazing Consumers Report review it got on its all-wheel-drive Tesla Model S P85D. CR excerpts : > "... the S P85D sedan performed better in our tests than any other car ever has, breaking the Consumer Reports Ratings system", > "... this electric car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds", > "In rating it, however, we faced a quandary: The Tesla initially scored 103 in the Consumer Reports' Ratings system, which by definition doesn’t go past 100. The car set a new benchmark, so we had to make changes to our scoring to account for it." Expectations are high... and Tesla has a high bar to maintain with its Model 3.
