𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 With UMN’s support, 25 teachers from 16 schools in Bajhang have been trained in Child Friendly Teaching, equipping them with skills to create engaging and interactive classes. But that’s not all; 15 schools now have better seating arrangements and essential education materials, ensuring students learn in comfortable and organised spaces and helping them reach their full potential. About us
United Mission to Nepal (UMN) strives to address root causes of poverty as it serves the people of Nepal in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ. Established in 1954, UMN is a cooperative effort between the people of Nepal and a large number of Christian organisations from nearly 20 countries on 4 continents. Multicultural teams of Nepali nationals and volunteer expatriate staff work alongside local organisations in less developed areas of the country, building partnerships that lead to healthy, strong and empowered individuals, families, and communities.

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧! We are delighted to share that Dr Rachel Karrach, Hospital Director of United Mission Hospital Tansen (UMHT), has been honoured with the 𝐴𝑢𝑠𝑎𝑑ℎ𝑖 𝐵𝑦𝑒𝑤𝑎𝑠𝑎𝑎𝑦𝑖 𝑆𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑎𝑚 award for her significant contribution to healthcare by the Nepal Chemist and Druggist Association (NCDA), during their 7th General Assembly. The award was jointly presented by the Lumbini Province Health Minister and NCDA officials. Dr Karrach, who recently completed 31 years of service at UMHT, expressed her gratitude and shared that this honour reaffirms her commitment to serving in Nepal. In another exciting update, the UMH Wastewater Treatment Project has been officially inaugurated and handed over to UMHT, following years of hard work from 2017 to 2024! This project, supported by the Rotary Club of Palpa and the Rotary International Global Grant Fund, will treat wastewater from around 300 homes, hotels, and the Tansen Nursing College. We are grateful to Rajendra Prasad Dhoju, the immediate past District Governor of Rotary and Ann-Britt Asebol, a representative of Rotary International, for inaugurating the wastewater treatment. 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 Exciting news! Over 1,500 people attended the ‘Jiwan Sudhar Gyan Mela 2081’, an enterprise fair organised on 24 February 2025 in Kapilvastu, with UMN’s support. Our project participants showcased a variety of farm and off-farm based businesses, including vermicompost, sculpting, pottery, agricultural products, and much more. There were fun activities such as chair race, pottery breaking, and quiz contests, specially organised to encourage women’s participation. We are grateful to the local leaders and representatives from various organisations who joined us in empowering marginalised communities. Photo 1: Fresh vegetables for sale. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐩 Aisha* became the first Muslim woman in her community to take legal action against 14 years of domestic violence. Despite facing significant criticism from her community, she has found freedom from physical violence. With UMN's support, she has also enrolled her children in a government school. Thanks to UMN’s helpful sessions, Aisha and other members of the Women’s Group in Nawalparasi have gained knowledge in healing therapy, trauma sensitivity, and legal provisions related to domestic violence and gender-based inequalities. *Name Changed #UnitedMissionToNepal #UMNepal #UMNNawalparasi #PeaceAndProtection
