  • The World Food Forum National Chapters & Youth Organisations: Intercontinental Youth Dialogues on Food Security, successfully concluded on Day 4 of #WFF2024. The side event was collaboratively organized by WFF Nepal & FAO Nepal, WFF Ghana, WFF Bhutan & FAO Bhutan, WFF USA, WFF Peru, Youth Action for Sustainable and Eco Nepal (YASEN) and 4H Nepal. 🌍 Mr. Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, delivered an inspiring welcome remarks, urging youth to engage in innovation, bold ideas, and action for transformation of agrifood systems. 🇳🇵🇧🇹 Moderated by Ms. Prasun Subedi, the session featured thought-provoking storytelling from diverse WFF chapters. An informative video prepared by WFF Peru regarding traditional and sustainable practices, especially in the context of Peru was played. Mr. Ghanshyam Bhattarai, representing the Nepal Chapter, highlighted sustainable agriculture and agroecological practices. Additional insights were shared by Ms. Edma Lawer from Ghana on the role of refugees in safeguarding food systems. Mr. Karma Losel Yangnyen from Bhutan shared stories of mindful youth leadership. WFF Nepal chapter extend our gratitude to Honorable Minister Ramnath Adhikari, FAO Representative Ken Shimizu, and other distinguished delegates for emphasizing the crucial role of youth in driving transformation through engagement, innovation, and digitalization. 🇳🇵 On the same day, at the #HIHInvestmentForum, Nepal showcased investment plans, inviting investors to drive sustainable agriculture, food security, and green growth.   • Day II of the WFF Side Event saw diverse impactful engagements. 🙌 Mr Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, held bilateral meetings with Dr. Felipe Paullier, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, alongside colleagues from FAO Nepal, FAO Bhutan, and the World Food Forum Nepal. The discussions focused on deepening youth engagement at the grassroots level, with an emphasis on the youth initiatives led by FAO and WFF in both countries. Ms Prasun Subedi represented the WFF Nepal Chapter, sharing the chapter’s journey and milestones, including the SDG College Campaign and Nepal Food Forum. She highlighed the chapter’s success in mobilizing youth for transformative change. 🇳🇵 In the cultural corner that day, FAO Nepal and FAO Bhutan showcased unique mountain agriculture commodities, highlighting the rich biodiversity and sustainable practices of the Himalayas. Visitors explored how these commodities serve as inspiring models for the global food system.   • Day II of the WFF Side Event showcased the incredible power of youth in shaping the future of food systems. WFF Nepal Chapter actively participated in many of the sessions. 🇳🇵 The Thematic Youth Assembly on CFS gathered an energetic mix of young leaders, advocates, and policymakers, united in their mission to reshape global food systems. Mr Bimal Koirala, Collaboration and Partnership Lead of WFF Nepal Chapter, shared the chapter’s inspiring work, emphasizing their success in youth-led initiatives and partnerships across sectors. He highlighted how WFF Nepal has been actively engaging local communities and governmental bodies to foster innovative solutions for food system transformation. Additionally, Adriana Herrera Moreno, CFS Secretary, addressed key queries from the national chapters, emphasizing the crucial role of youth in global food policy frameworks. ✨ At the Irish Side Event, hosted by the Irish Youth Delegation, national chapters from Ireland, Malawi, and Nepal came together to discuss how young people can lead transformative change in the agri-food sector. The Ireland Chapter showcased the significant work of the National Youth Food Forum over the past year, demonstrating impactful youth-led initiatives. Representing WFF Nepal, Ms. Pragya Devkota shared how the chapter has been actively engaging diverse youth through a series of local to national dialogues and workshops. She highlighted their collaborative efforts with local organizations, government bodies, schools, and universities.🌿 At the Dutch Side Event, Mr. Ghanshyam Bhattarai represented the World Food Forum Nepal during a fishbowl discussion on ‘Youth in International Food Governance: Power and Participation,’ organized by the Dutch UN Youth Representatives on Biodiversity and Food. Youth participants from across the globe united to discuss the importance of genuine youth involvement in international food governance.
