Our first event in a long time, "Look to New Zealand: The State of Aotearoa's Cloud in 2024" was so much fun you might just see us doing more events in the coming months... Great discussions, fantastic presentations and awesome presenters - it had it all! We discussed how federated IT is the future we can already live in, what's the secret to over 10 years of sovereign, hyperscale cloud in New Zealand, and we saw how some of Aotearoa's innovators are taking ideas to reality in the AI and Data Science spaces. So, why should we "look to New Zealand"? Because together we can build a strong, sovereign and world-leading digital future! Thank you Finlay Thompson, Henry Macdonald, Kandy W., Donald Christie, Paul Seiler, Dragonfly Data Science & Tohu Media Check out our write ups here: Part 1: https://lnkd.in/gtCXn8yn Part 2: https://lnkd.in/gFpcxUyE Part 3: https://lnkd.in/dM-S6_Fq #NZCloud #DataSovereignty #AI #DigitalFutures #federatedIT

We wish to extend our congratulations to SiteHost, as they play a valuable part of the rising tide in providing real sovereign cloud at a scale, cost and capability for the Aotearoa New Zealand market. This article nails some of the reasons we should support local providers. "It’s time for New Zealand to have a serious conversation about the role overseas-owned cloud providers ought to play in our digital economy. But not everyone wants to tell the whole story." https://lnkd.in/gWEEDnPp

As busy as the room was, we know that not everyone was able to make the event, so we've recorded and uploaded the great presentations by Markus Luczak-Roesch, Doug Dixon, Kevin Shedlock & George Sadlier. Catalyst Cloud is grateful for the opportunity to help bring FileSender to REANNZ members. You can trust us with your data. Thank you.
REANNZ CEO Amber McEwen is pleased to announce that FileSender, a secure data transfer service, is available directly from REANNZ from today. “FileSender was previously provided to REANNZ members by AARnet, who told us earlier this year that they would be unable to provide FileSender in New Zealand after July. Following testing and a successful proof of concept, we will be offering this service to REANNZ members from today. “FileSender allows users to share large files simply and securely, providing better security and more capacity than email or Dropbox. It offers end to end encryption, allowing users to password protect sensitive data. FileSender will accept file transfers up to 5 TB. “REANNZ has partnered with Catalyst Cloud to ensure that data is hosted in NZ by a NZ owned and operated organisation, which is aligned to data sovereignty and privacy principles. “FileSender is a federated service which means to use it members must have Tuakiri enabled. The service will be available to all eligible REANNZ members at no additional cost. Contact the Engagement Team at REANNZ if you’d like to know more. Catalyst Cloud Paul Seiler FileSender

"The tools and support you need to innovate, secure your data, and lead the global market are already in New Zealand and right at your fingertips" The final part of our "Look to New Zealand - the State of Aotearoa's Cloud in 2024" series focuses on how the concepts of parts 1 and 2 apply to New Zealand businesses and help them change the world! Who better to speak on this than our friends at Dragonfly Data Science and Tohu Media?! Dragonfly Data Science's Finlay Thompson and Henry Macdonald discussed how they created one of New Zealand's most innovating data science companies, the techniques used to empower developers and the AI models which they produce using Catalyst Cloud's GPU! Tohu Media's Kandy W. introduced how Data and Technological Sovereignty both protects and drives innovation for Kiwi businesses. If it sounds like a packed piece, it's because it is! Check it out below for the full details: https://lnkd.in/dM-S6_Fq Thank you again to our amazing speakers, our guests and our hosts. We can't wait to see you all again soon #NZCloud #NZAI #DataSovereignty #DataScience #FederatedIT #CloudStrategy

"By taking a decentralised approach, local providers like our team at Catalyst Cloud can work more closely with their customers to develop solutions that are tailored to the local context. Ultimately, this can solve problems more effectively and open new opportunities for New Zealand businesses." Paul Seiler's turn to share his views in part two of our "Look to New Zealand - the State of Aotearoa's Cloud in 2024" writeups! Paul talks about what's needed to keep bringing innovation into New Zealand and what's helped Catalyst Cloud remain the longest running (over 10 years strong!) sovereign, hyperscale, carbon-zero public cloud in New Zealand.
