Because when a child thrives, we all thrive.

About us

For more than 80 years, ChildFund has been making the world a better place. A lot has changed since 1938, but our purpose has stayed the same: we help children and youth thrive. We work in just a few developing countries, providing a deep level of support in the communities that need it most, over several years. Our integrated approach to change gives each community we work in the resources, skills, experience and support they need to make positive change. We work closely with our supporters, local partners, families and the community to create better lives for children. We create a well-planned Road Maps for change in our dedicated communities, so that everyone knows the plan and helps to make it happen. We work alongside communities, helping local families to achieve independence. Once they have, we stay in touch if they need help. Our registered charity number is: CC10081

We're excited to announce ChildFund New Zealand has joined Emergency Alliance. “We are very excited to welcome ChildFund to our family. They bring a global network, with depth in understanding of how emergencies affect children and youth. ChildFund’s work in the Pacific is particularly important as we gear up for another cyclone season,” says Paul Brown. “When disaster strikes, it’s critical that we work together, not just in coordinating responses on the ground, but also coordinating how we raise funds. By making it simple for the public, New Zealanders can trust that donations will get to where they are most needed," says Josie Pagani CEO of ChildFund New Zealand. One of the leading causes of death of children in the Pacific is not what you might expect. CEO Josie Pagani spoke with Jenny-May on TVNZ's Breakfast this morning about how dirty and contiminated water is a major contributor to diseases like diarrhoea. And for children, it can lead to dehydration, malnutrition, and even death. 💧 Improving access to clean water and sanitation offers the greatest opportunity to reduce mortality rates for communities in the Pacific, particularly in the Solomon Islands and Kiribati. 💧 See how you can support the work to help bring clean, safe drinking water to a child in the Pacific: https://lnkd.in/gSy2rQGV #ChildFund #CleanWaterProjects

Nearly 15 million Ukrainians now depend on aid to survive. 30,000 civilians have been killed or wounded. On Tuesday, we held a panel discussion in Wellington about the war on Ukraine. Around 90 people attended to get a direct update on the war from Ukrainian ambassador Vasyl Myroshnychenko, and hear from EU Ambassador Lawrence Meredith, and Otago Professor Robert Patman. Vasyl reminded us, this is not only a European war. Russia has Pacific ports and a large naval fleet. Victory in Ukraine would embolden Putin in the Pacific. Thank you for bringing your knowledge and expertise to the panel Vasyl, Lawrence and Robert. It was a successful night filled with insight and engaging discussion. See you all at the next one. This morning, Wednesday 21 February, Green MP Fa'anana Efeso Collins, was taking part in a charity event for ChildFund New Zealand. Efeso has been a passionate advocate for the Pacific and that’s why he was supporting the ChildFund Water Run this morning. He was a personal friend of Child Fund CEO Josie Pagani, who was also taking part in the race. He had given his precious time to be part of this event. Shortly after the end of the race, Efeso suffered a medical incident. He received immediate medical treatment on site by event staff and then by St Johns Ambulance officers, but very sadly passed away as a result of the medical incident. “We are deeply shocked and thinking only of his family at this time. It will take time to grasp the huge loss to Aotearoa New Zealand. All we can do now is grieve,” says Josie Pagani. The whole team at ChildFund and at Campbell+Co who organised the event are devastated and saddened at the loss of such an amazing man. Our heart goes out to his wife, his children and family, his community, his colleagues at the Green Party. ChildFund CEO Josie Pagani.
