Home, body and baby products that are safer for you, your family and our world 🌏

About us

Malcolm and Melanie Rands founded ecostore on New Zealand’s Northland coast in 1993. Part of a group that created an eco-village nestled in a valley dotted with streams and surrounded by native forest, the Rands set out to make their home as clean and green as the land they called home. By creating hardworking, highly effective products for people and their home, removing harmful or unnecessary chemicals, the ecostore ethos has always been to put people’s health first and give them the choice to live clean. From one New Zealand family to another – the Rands passed the baton to the Kraus family in 2013. Now led by Pablo Kraus, our goal is to be the world’s most trusted and sustainable home and body care brand. Today we continue to proudly develop, manufacture and pack our household cleaners, laundry, body care, skincare, baby care and oral care products at our own carboNZero certified factory in Auckland and share them with the world.

Can changing your laundry habits save you money? The answer is YES! 🤩 Our CEO, Pablo Kraus spoke with New Zealand Herald ahead of No Laundry Day to share top tips for more economical washing.🫧 "The simplest way to scrimp on laundry is by, you guessed it, doing less of it. With an average 4.5 star washing machine using 69 litres of water per load of laundry, reducing your washing by one load a week could save 3588 litres a year. Good for the planet, and your water bill." - New Zealand Herald Check out all the ways you can help your wallet and the planet this No Laundry Day. 🌿 - https://lnkd.in/gUS9AipR

Renowned for its exceptional hydration and moisture properties, harakeke has been a cornerstone of traditional Māori medicine for centuries. Its inclusion in our products not only enhances their efficacy but also celebrates our commitment to using native, sustainable ingredients. We are proud to continue our journey towards sustainability and innovation, ensuring our products are as kind to your skin as they are to the environment. Today we celebrate a massive win for the Antipodean albatross and all our other taonga seabirds. Aotearoa has taken a world leading step with the announcement New Zealand will adopt gold standard fishing practices to keep our seabirds safe from accidental capture. By using all three mitigation techniques or hook shielding devices, seabird bycatch from surface longline fishing will be virtually eliminated. This decision couldn’t come soon enough. The Antipodean albatross are on the fast track to extinction with approximately 2,300 birds dying each year, and the number one threat to them is fishing. While many of them get into trouble in international waters, eliminating deaths here and taking a leadership position is vital if we are to save this special species. Reaching this milestone has been a collective effort by many, and finally decades of work by researchers and Department of Conservation (DOC) has been listened to. Dr Kath Walker and Dr Graeme Elliott’s dedication to the 30 year data set has been fundamental in this decision. At last, we’re beginning to see our seabirds get the same protections as our land birds. A huge thank you to everyone who has got behind the race to save the Antipodean albatross– and a big nod to our founders Peter Burling and Blair Tuke for shining a light on this issue on the world stage. Thank you to everyone for helping us fund trackers, sharing stories and getting noisy! These ocean voyagers are global wanderers, they span the Pacific and protecting them at home is critical. After this important decision the next step is to take this commitment to the world and ask the world’s fishing fleets to join ours in saving these incredible species. https://hubs.ly/Q02BQ9vv0

It was a cold start for World Ocean Day 🥶. Our team joined Live Ocean for their annual #WorldOceanDay winter dip. All to raise awareness for our beautiful moana 🌊. "As an ocean loving nation, you’d think we’d be a world leader in protecting it. Wrong. In global rankings we are last equal with Russia and China – New Zealand currently protects less than 1%. With our only current chance for change now before Parliament, the Hauraki Gulf Tikapa Moana Marine Protection Bill has the opportunity to increase marine protection in the Gulf by almost 6%. A desperately needed 6% that will allow kelp forests to regrow, fish populations the space to recover and ecosystems to return from the brink of collapse." - Sally Paterson Let's push to protect what we all love and need. Our moana. 💙 #ecostorenz #ItsLiveOcean #LiveOceanDip #winterdip
