From the electric fence to cloud, Gallagher solutions empower customers to protect what matters most.
About us
When a horse called Joe decided to use the family car as a scratching post, it inspired Bill Gallagher Senior to devise an electrical circuit that delivered a small pulse whenever the horse rocked the vehicle, and the concept for the world’s first ever electric fence system was born. That was in the early 1930s. By the end of the decade Bill had built his first electric fence and made a long-term commitment to building a great business – Gallagher. Although we are now known and respected in over 100 countries with offices in NZ, Australia, Europe, North America, Chile, and South Africa, Gallagher remains a family-owned business founded on family values. We understand our customers, and the animals and land that they protect. From the electric fence to the cloud, Gallagher’s hardware and software solutions come together to create connected and customisable ecosystems that empower our customers to work responsibly, productively, and profitably. We're proudly on a journey to help create a more sustainable future for people, the planet, and business in every market and country in which we operate. Our sustainability framework guides our decision-making to protect what matters most.

PioPio sheep and beef farmer Mat Sherriff is using weighing and EID technology to boost efficiency and productivity on his 1,150-hectare King Country station. With 2,500 ewes, 650 lamb hoggets, 150 beef cows, and 600 Friesian bulls, Mat relies on accurate data to make informed decisions about animal health and manage potential drench resistance. Central to his system is the Gallagher TWR-5 Weigh Scale & Reader and EID Antenna Panel, which has streamlined the weighing process and eliminated guesswork. Mat weighs his bulls and lambs monthly, ensuring they reach optimal weights and driving productivity. He’s now exploring EID tags for his sheep flock to improve breeding decisions and combat drench resistance. https://lnkd.in/de8-GuDW

We are excited to announce our expansion into Brazil! 🌎 The announcement comes as part of our participation this week in the New Zealand Trade Mission to Brazil, led by the Minister for Trade and Agriculture, Hon Todd McClay. “The Brazilian market is very important in the agricultural sector and will become a lot more important. Livestock numbers are set to increase and Brazil is going to start feeding a lot of the world. With numbers going down in parts of Europe, Brazil and some other Latin American countries will become suppliers to Europe” Lisbeth Jacobs - Chief Executive for Gallagher Animal Management. Our friends at Share Mongolia joined us earlier this year to learn from our NZ experts about the benefits of portable fencing, from animal containment, to mitigating erosion and safeguarding their herds against wolves. It is great to see their learnings in action on the Mongolian grasslands. What a beautiful backdrop for some Gallagher gear! #farmershelpingfarmers #globallearning #agriculture

🌱 Revolutionizing Grazing with eShepherd 🌱 In Ideal South Dakota, Jorgensen Land and Cattle are implementing adaptive rotational grazing, replicating the natural grazing patterns of the bison that once tread these vast prairie lands. Using virtual fencing, CEO Nick Jorgensen tells us how he is maximizing the use of his pasture without the need for added labor. "eShepherd allows me to control where and how my livestock graze, improving pasture health and cutting labor costs." We're proud to partner with farmers like Nick who are embracing technology for smarter, more efficient farming. 🚜🌍 🔗Full story here: https://lnkd.in/gFzWviFh #SustainableFarming #AgTech #GrazingManagement #eShepherd #FarmingInnovation #Sustainability #VirtualFencing #AgriBusiness #FarmManagement

Rotation on the ranch. 🐂🤠 Effective fall pasture management is a top priority for livestock ranchers across North America. Heading into cooler temperatures and shorter daylight hours, it becomes essential to optimize pasture practices for the health and productivity of cattle. Correctly allocating pastures can prevent the need to purchase excess additional grain feed, saving valuable resource cost for producers. Since 2015, Jake Yancey's Tracking Y Ranch has expanded from managing a small back-of-home pasture to overseeing properties across four counties in Western Washington. Hear from our friend Jake as he shares his insights on adaptive grazing: https://lnkd.in/gCXGWYCw
