Today, we'd like to give a warm welcome to Justin Wells, our Country Manager for the USA. Justin has jumped on board to help scale Halter across the US. He'll be leading Business Development, Customer Success, Onboarding and general operations across America to ultimately help ranchers and farmers run more sustainable and productive farms/ranches 💯🚀💡 Outside of work? Justin likes to go trail/distance running, bow hunting, hiking, or anything outdoors. He also loves to smoke meats, cook great food and has a bit of an addiction to sweet treats ❤️🏹🏔️ At work, Justin is energised by big, ambiguous problems that require collective effort, brainstorming, and concise execution. Companies such as Duda, DoorDash, and Centrica plus his time with the United States Marine Corps have given him an incredible amount of experience tackling these kinds of problems 🙌 Throughout getting to know Justin, we really admired how passionate, inquisitive, creative and driven he is. Alasdair comes from a strong dairy farming background where he helped manage his family farm, gaining some great farm systems, pasture, and commercial experience. He also had some great experience at Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC)! 🐮 Outside of work, Alasdair loves to go paragliding, play rugby, travel, and spend time with family and friends. We've hired our first official Customer AI Lead! Please welcome, Jacob Ross-Murphy! Jacob will be at the forefront of integrating AI into our customer service operations. He will lead the development of a world-class Knowledge Management System (KMS). Jacob will pair with our customer content team and ensure seamless AI integration across support, onboarding, and ultimately sales 🚀 Coming from RUSH and Spark for Business, Jacob has some awesome product management and customer experience. Coming from an agency, he really wants to work in-house again to help Halter grow as we scale across the world 💚 Outside of work? Jacob is into his fitness and loves reading, hiking, tennis, gaming, travelling and swimming. Say hi to Gale Curry, our newest Senior R&D Engineer! Gale will work closely with our Pasture domain team of cross-functional product and technical experts, better understanding problems facing farmers, and farm systems. She'll be then designing, building, deploying and maintaining systems to solve complex machine learning problems, ultimately helping our farmers better manage their pasture 💡💚 Gale started her career off at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration then she worked her way through some epic companies such as Woven by Toyota, Lyft, and Knightscope. Throughout her career, Gale has gained heaps of machine learning and robotics software engineering experience. She applied to our Talent Pool and we were super impressed! 🚀🚗 Outside of work, Gale loves walks with her dog, pub trivia, op shopping, and yoga! She also loves bakery pastries and is energised by coffee to get through gnarly projects at work 🐶🧘♀️😊 We cannot wait for Gale to put her expertise to the test and help us and our farmers become better and better! Last week, Stacey Nicholson caught up with Cam and Lizzy in Arohena. A few months ago, they won Halter free for a year at our Fieldays competition and have just finished training their cows on Halter! Alongside Krispin Kannan from Veterinary Enterprises Group Ltd, they checked in on the farm’s progress leading up to the mating season. Cam and Lizzy are focused on boosting milk production to 530 kgMS/cow and streamlining the herd by focusing on their top performers, aiming to do more with less. This all starts with making sure the cows have come through calving in great shape and are set for an outstanding mating season. An analysis of grazing and rumination data showed that the cows have transitioned through calving exceptionally well, with cycling rates already well above target in relation to PSM. A big part of the conversation was around feed allocation and how changes to diet composition are impacting milk production and cycling rates – and it’s looking really positive! 🚀 Now, the focus is on monitoring energy requirements and feed, especially through the crucial later stages of mating, to ensure conception rates stay high as pasture quality drops in late spring and early summer. 🌱 They also went over how the Halter app will be used during mating with collars, making sure their team is confident as they take the leap and drop tail paint for the first time!
