About us
Lodestone Energy is an award-winning company bringing grid-scale solar to Aotearoa, New Zealand, to power our nation’s zero-carbon future. Our first five solar farms will generate enough energy to power 50,000 homes, or a city the size of Hamilton. And we’re not stopping there. By delivering the largest solar project Aotearoa’s ever seen, we are giving New Zealand businesses an alternative power option and playing a key role in meeting our zero carbon goals.

On a beautiful sun-soaked day in Edgecumbe, we welcomed Green Party MP and spokesperson for Energy Scott Willis onsite at #Rangitaiki to learn more about Lodestone’s solar farms, including our infrastructure, operations and approach to development. Amongst many topics, we aligned on the importance of onboarding communities with the benefits of solar energy infrastructure and its relatively low impact. Some of the aspects Scott appreciated: > 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 – the right fit for the community and network availability > 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 – our close relationships with local hapū > 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – employing locally and upskilling in a prospering industry > 𝐅𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 - visually discreet at ground level and nominal noise Thanks Scott, for taking the time to visit us and learn about what we are achieving with solar. #LodestonestoneEnergy #SolarFarms #NZSolarFarm #SolarEnergy #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand

The latest edition of #BusinessNorth includes an interesting story on our Coromandel-based solar farm project, Pāmu Rā ki Whitianga, which is progressing nicely. We have just completed the ‘Golden Row’, which marks the end of piling and the mechanical completion of the first row, including trackers and mounted modules. The #GoldenRow is an important milestone as it sets the standard for the installation of the remaining 630 trackers and ~53,000 modules. Thank you, Connell Contractors, Infratec and New Energy, for the quality work to date. As February draws to an end, so does our time with our three ace interns, Emily Rampton, Jeremy Muldoon and Asti Wallace. This year, our program expanded to include a finance internship alongside two positions within our engineering team. For Julian Lampen, one of our 2024 interns, last year’s mahi paid off. After graduating from the University of Canterbury with an Honours degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Julian has hit the ground running in his new full-time role as a Graduate Engineer. It’s great to see so much enthusiasm for renewables and talent coming through. We hope our interns leave full of practical knowledge, new skills and, importantly, inspiration to join the industry. Read about their experience here: https://lnkd.in/gAsEFNi9 If you are a tertiary student interested in a summer internship with Lodestone, check back mid-year for more information on opportunities we have available. #LodestoneEnergy #NZSolarFarm #RenewableEnergy #SolarEnergy #NZInternship #EnergyInternship #Interns

This week, we celebrated reaching a 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲, tipping over 𝟭𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 (MWh) of new solar electricity delivered to New Zealand’s energy market since we began generating in late 2023. Putting this into perspective, this equates to 𝟭𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗸𝗪𝗵, which can power approximately 𝟭𝟰,𝟬𝟬𝟬 New Zealand households over a year*. We’re learning a lot from operating New Zealand’s first utility-scale solar farms, Kohirā (33 MWp) and Rangitaiki (32 MWp), which we are applying to our third and largest solar farm which recently started generating, Te Herenga o Te Rā. With more projects in the pipeline, Lodestone continues to deliver solar projects at pace, accelerating New Zealand towards its carbon-zero goal. #LodestoneEnergy #SolarEnergy #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy #NZSolarFarm #SolarFarms #GenerationMilestone * 𝘉𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 2014-2023 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘍𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘦.𝘯𝘻

Over the holidays our Managing Director, Gary Holden sat down with Dita De Boni from The Post to discuss the future of solar energy and Lodestone’s plans for 2025 and beyond. The article reflects on the current state of the energy sector before looking ahead to how advancements in efficiency and affordability are making solar more accessible to both businesses and consumers. Gary also shares Lodestone’s plan to have 18 operational #solarfarms across New Zealand, aiming to power as many townships as possible with solar energy. We’re on the cusp of a renewable energy revolution, and solar will be at the heart of it. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gYcwDtzY #LodestoneEnergy #SolarEnergy #RenewableEnergy | Stuff

Today we are celebrating reaching another significant milestone. Our third and largest solar farm to date, Te Herenga o Te Rā has started generating. Located in Waiotahe, Bay of Plenty, the farm will generate approximately 69 GWh of clean renewable electricity annually from over 71,600 high-efficiency bifacial solar panels – enough to power nearly 10,000 homes a year! Huge thanks to our customers, construction partners and local community who have all contributed to this success.
