  • A classic from back in the day 📺 With the Super Rugby Pacific competition in full swing, we had a hunt through the archives to find this old stinger that used to air before the Sports Segment on One News. Going through some of the other clips we had made, it's great to see that most of the suppliers we'd partnered up with in each one are still here standing with us as proud partners of the New Zealand Construction Industry.

  • Our stores have put in the hard mahi to organise and host numerous breakfast events up and down the country! Here’s a great bunch of pics our staff in store have sent through from their early mornings 🍳🥓 Our Kaitaia branch manager, Rudi Koch, had these awesome words to pass on to everyone involved in their event: “What a fantastic event made possible by all our suppliers that turned into a success story by the hundreds of builders, tradies and customers that showed up for the Monster Tool Sale Parakuihi . Massive thanks to everybody that made this such a great morning.”

It was such an honour to receive this certificate of appreciation for our team, and Mico New Zealand Limited’s, contribution towards the Sweet Louise foundation earlier this year. Thanks to Sian Thorburn & Elizabeth (Liz) Horne for receiving the award and for leading the charge to organise the charity lunch and auction in December last year which ended up raising $14,500. With that, we've managed to raise $50,000 across the last 3 years of fundraising that we've put on for them.

  • A great turnout for this mornings trade breakfast at our Clarence St branch. Catching the sunrise as builders came through for some good food, chats with our fantastic supplier reps and the chance to win one of the spot prizes that were being given away was awesome to see. We’ve still got plenty going on this month so if you’re wanting to get along, head to our website to find out when your local is hosting theirs so you don’t miss out.

  • Celebrating the amazing Wāhine of PlaceMakers this International Women's Day and the work they put in to keep the lights on in our branches. Thanks to the efforts of our staff, we've managed to increase women in leadership roles from 23% in 2022 to 28% in 2025 thanks to the incredible programs we have in place run by wāhine for other wāhine. There's still more to be done though and we'll stay the course with how we support and encourage the women who have chosen to be a part of our industry.

  • Recently, part of our team got to take part in a wellness and mental health day that JJ from Roc Build organised for his team at the Wai Ora Recovery Centre. Shout out to Isaac Tunui and Joel Southey for being present for this and massive props to JJ on the initiative and efforts he’s taken to look out for his crew. Unfortunately, our industry has the highest occupational stats for suicide in the country so we encourage you to take care of each other as well as yourself. If you’re ever feeling alone or like you can’t reach out to anyone around you, the services available to you from MATES in Construction are a phone call away: 0800 111 315. Look after yourselves & watch out for your people.
