Happy World Town Planning Day (WTPD) to our fellow planners from the team at Plan Co. WTPD is a global celebration of the important work we do in society at large by creating connected and liveable communities. At Plan Co. in particular, we work with clients across the Auckland region and beyond to help get resource consents for new homes and businesses that support creating liveable communities. Thanks to NZPI's Auckland Branch for hosting a networking event last night to celebrate where we also could soak up the wonderful views of Tamaki Makaurau. #NZplanning #NZPIwtpd #resourceconsents #Auckland #planners

Last week the Plan Co. Team came together to celebrate Diwali (the Hindu festival of lights) with a shared lunch. Plan Co. Planning Manager, Parvati, shared the meaning of Diwali with the team and some even took the opportunity to try wearing a sari. Plan Co. encourages and celebrates diversity as a team and their clients. We wish our clients who are celebrating Diwali at this time a wonderful festive season and happy and prosperous year ahead. #diwali2024 #diwali #festivaloflights #lights #celebration #diversity

Continuing with Plan Co.’s emphasis on staff wellbeing we introduce the newest member of staff, Plan Co’s Chief Wellness Officer – Ritchie McPaw. Ritchie joined the team four weeks ago and has already made a big impact, getting staff out walking at lunchtime as well as encouraging regular breaks for the team to throw his toys and play with him.

It was back to school for Mark and Parvati last week when they participated in the Making Good Decisions Course, run by WSP. This course is the first step in getting certified to become a RMA Commissioner. The course was a great opportunity to meet with different people working in the RMA space from council planners, urban designers, local government members, and lawyers. As well as a refresher on the RMA the course allows you to experience a mock hearing. Next steps is completing the assignment. Keep an eye out for updates on when Mark and Parvati pass and obtain their certificates to giving us the ability to undertake commissioner work and sit on Hearings Panels.

Plan Co. Recently obtained a joint land use and subdivision consent for five new, two-storey, units on a prominent corner site on Rangitoto Road, Papatoetoe. Working alongside KPC Consultants as the architects, Plan Co. was able to successfully navigate issues raised during the application process including urban design and infrastructure constraints. #resourceconsent #successful #urbandesign #jointlanduse #subdivision #auckland #townplanning #townplanners #planner

Following a lengthy consenting process Plan Co. have recently obtain non-notified land use and subdivision consent for this 15 unit development on the cliff top of Beach Haven Road. The development, consisting of 2 and 3 storey dwellings across the Mixed Housing Suburban and Single House Zones, will contribute to emerging new developments within the local area and demonstrates a good balance of yield vs the site constraints. The proposal also includes the provision of new public land along the coastline and mitigates against the effects of coastal erosion which has been an on-going challenge following Cyclone Gabrielle in 2023. #townplanning #coastal #consent #resourceconsent #planners #planning #outcomes #beachhaven #auckland #mixedhousingsuburbanzone #singlehousezone #clifftop

What an outcome! Proud to be part of this with Shape Architects
Grand Drive is a special project. It's one of the very first contracts we signed 2.5 years ago when Shape was set up. As Auckland's urban fabric matures and more homes are being built to deliver housing to Kiwis, I believe architects have a crucial role in shaping what our suburbs look like. A building stands for 50 years, and even with a limited development budget our team wanted to spend a bit more time to design better homes that are well planned, beautifully designed, and filled with light, especially in prime locations such as Remuera. All 8 units hit the market last month. 7 were sold immediately in under a month, and the last had a multi offer and has now sold. Seeing a pile of shoes from people of all cultures at the open homes felt amazing and is a testament to the demand for great architecture in a very challenging market for everyone. Section size 1492m2 Number of units 8 Floor area approx. 152m2 per unit 4 bed, 2.5 bath Shout out to the team involved to deliver the project: Plan Co. Plan Co. recently assisted Takapuna Motor Group and successfully obtained retrospective resource consent at 87 Barrys Point Road, Takapuna, for the sale of motor vehicles and associated signage. The site was previously used for a car wash cafe business. Takapuna Motor Group needed consent to operate as a car sales yard (a Discretionary Activity). Plan Co was happy to assist with the resource consent as we could see that this site is well suited for the use, with convenient and direct access provided to and from Barrys Point Road. Margot Thomson produced a robust application to get through the council processing seamlessly to legalise this activity. Contact Plan Co. for any of your resource consenting needs. #takapuna #consent #motorgroup #consent #townplanning #planners #resourceconsent #auckland #success #enablingpositivechange
