7 Highly Effective Habits 🚀 That supercharge your PhD: 1. 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 ↳ Begin with the end goal in mind. List out the necessary steps to get there and then make these your weekly tasks. 2. 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞 ↳ Break large tasks down into their smallest constituent elements and order them by priority. Then execute. 3. 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐲 ↳ Popular theories are under constant scrutiny. Leverage this and embed your work in the wider literature to become a part of the conversation (pro tip: this equals citations). 6. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ↳ Rejections are incredibly informative because they tell you what doesn't work. Instead of seeking acceptance, seek rejection. It's far more useful. Lions roam after all (figuratively, of course). But winning researchers challenge the status quo and place their work at the front of the social conversation.
