Queenstown's top visitor destination and event venue, accessed exclusively by scenic Gondola.

About us

One of the first sights to captivate visitors on their arrival to Queenstown is the distinctive outline of the Skyline complex, perched high above the town on Bob’s Peak. Exclusively accessed by scenic Gondola rising 450 vertical meters, Skyline Queenstown is a 'must-do' attraction during your visit to Queenstown, New Zealand. The 220 degree panoramic views from Coronet Peak to The Remarkables and across Lake Wakatipu to Cecil and Walter Peak, are truly breath-taking. Skyline features a world class restaurant and bar – Stratosfare - offering premium cuisine with views to match. For something more casual, enjoy delicious tastes from around the world made fresh by our talented chefs in the Market Kitchen. Or, take a chairlift from the Skyline complex to access the Luge Top Station and start of the scenic and advanced Luge tracks where the young and young-at-heart, can experience the thrill of the downhill Luge in our non-motorised Luge carts. After dark, explore the beauty of the night sky with our Stargazing tours, for a unique and awe-inspiring experience. Or check what’s on at the Moonlight Theatre. We offer extensive private function facilities that can cater for any occasion, with all our function spaces designed to capture the magnificent views. Plus we are a Qualmark Enviro Gold & Endorsed Visitor Activity. With over 50 years of operation, Skyline Queenstown has welcomed over 10 million visitors since the original Gondola was installed in 1967. From humble beginnings, the proudly New Zealand owned and operated company has evolved into a world class facility, offering guests a unique and fun filled experience.

Updates

  • Skyline Queenstown will open from Saturday 16th of May! While we will be operating at a reduced capacity, we are thrilled that the iconic Gondola that has graced Queenstown since 1967 will be running again. The past months have been challenging times for our people, our community and our industry, and unprecedented for Skyline Queenstown. But as New Zealand moves to Alert Level 2, it is with great relief that we can start to navigate the next phase of the Covid-19 response and invite our Kiwi families and friends up for a bit of fun at the top. #skylinequeenstown #covid19 #wearequeenstown #homeofadventure

  • 24-hours of non-stop Luge for Gumboot Friday! We are excited to partner with Queenstown local, Brent Wallace, as he takes on an extraordinary challenge in support of I Am Hope as part of this year's Gumboot Friday on 1st November. Brent will be riding the Luge for 24 hours straight to raise crucial funds for mental health care. With a strong commitment to this cause, Brent’s effort is truly inspiring, and we’re proud to support this important initiative, keeping the conversation around mental health moving forward. 💙 I Am Hope provides free, accessible counselling for young Kiwis aged 5 to 25, with no questions or referrals needed. Since 2019, Gumboot Friday has delivered over 100,000 therapy sessions to youth across Aotearoa, ensuring they get the help they need when it matters most. Let’s come together and support this incredible cause! #lugeforhope 🔗 Donation link: https://lnkd.in/gkiFFUaX 📅 Learn more about the event: https://lnkd.in/gBbugUn7

  • Conservation Week Celebration! 🌿  As we come to the end of Conservation Week, we’re thrilled to spotlight the incredible efforts of our community organisations and the amazing work we proudly support! 🌲 With the help of the Whakatipu Wilding Control Group, we’ve kick-started the Adopt-a-Plot programme at Skyline! Our staff and community volunteers are joining forces to remove wilding pines on Bob’s Peak. Stay tuned for our next community event at the end of October! 🌱 A huge shoutout to the Wakatipu Reforestation Trust & Mana Tāhuna Charitable Trust for their tireless work in native fauna restoration, ensuring our district thrives for generations to come. We’re excited to support their upcoming Planting Corporate Day in Jardine Park on Thursday, 26th September, in collaboration with Love Queenstown Community Fund, Queenstown Lakes District Council and McConnell Dowell. 🐦 We also want to celebrate the amazing volunteers from the Whakatipu Wildlife trust for their dedication to protecting native birdlife. Skyline is honoured to host their upcoming “Talk on the Wildside” Kea Conservation Trust talk by Tamsin Orr-Walker on Thursday, 17th October (6.30-7.30 pm) at Skyline. But really, a heartfelt thank you to ALL the incredible organisations and volunteers working hard to protect and restore the magic of our district! 🌟 #ConservationWeek

  • On Saturday, April 27th, we teamed up with the Wilding Control Group for an amazing volunteer day on Ben Lomond, as part of their Adopt-a-Plot programme 🌿. Twenty enthusiastic volunteers of all ages rolled up their sleeves to tackle invasive wilding conifers, giving our native plants room to thrive! And as a token of appreciation, we handed out Gondola Annual Passes to all our volunteers. It's through collaborative efforts like these, Skyline Queenstown aims to restore and preserve the natural beauty of Ben Lomond. Our dedication to enhancing this area doesn't stop here. We're excited to keep these events going, offering locals the chance to jump in and make a difference. Post-winter, we'll be back in action, working to enhance this beautiful area for future generations. Stay tuned for more opportunities to join in and have some fun along the way!
